Well speaking as a Catholic.. We define sin as Mortal and Venial,, Mortal(deadly) is breaking any of the Ten Commandments and venial(temporal) for loss of temper, cursing, sharp words and lack of patience etc.. Our sins must be confessed as ordered by Christ in Scripture for us to be absolved,, It is possible to live in a "State of Grace" not commiting mortal sins by keeping the Ten Commandments. Possible meaning having a good prayer life and always having your eyes on the Lord, for he says my yoke is easy and my burden is light..
