I hate to be the guy that debunks this, but as a truck driver in St Louis, I have to speak up. The driver was answering the question "where does it go?" To which he replied, Maine. The load he's picking up is going to Maine, not the tunnel. Hearing someone yell a question from outside my truck and several feet away is VERY hard to hear over a diesel engine.... It was a simple mis-communication.
Missouri is known as the "Show me" state AND the "cave" state.
There are thousands of caves and caverns statewide and those that were "structurally sound" enough for commercial use HAVE BEEN used as such.
Under Anhueser Busch's world headquarters here in St Louis, there is mile after mile of caverns that have been used for storing various products. They lead from the brewery and all the way out to the Mississippi River.
Just across the interstate it's the old Lemp brewery whose caverns are made into a commercial haunted house every year. During the Lemp families higher point in the brewing business, there was a theater and swimming pool carved into the cavern.
Just a few miles down the road is a cave in the river bluff called Cliff Cave, which in the really 20th century was used as a wine aging warehouse and later on various other purposes.
And a couple of miles back north from cliff cave is an old quarry that now is an underground home to a couple of trucking companies and numerous offices.
I don't a want to rain on everybody's parade, but, this is very common in this area.
Right, this DOES NOT answer for the massive castle that's being built in the Ozarks... But, the caves? Economical, green, safe, and easy maintained storage and warehousing.



Now, I know how this works... I just put forth some PRETTY SOLID evidence debunking your fears, so, I'm sure I'll be called a disinformation agent or shill or whatever else you guys come up with. Simple fact is, I ask questions, I raise an eyebrow and keep my ears open to everything going on around me. I blog for a conspiracy theory themed podcast and also occasionally co-host... So, I AM NOT a shill... I just want to try to set the record straight on something that shouldn't be a concern for anybody.... this shit is normal in Missouri. They did an episode of "Cities of the Underworld" right here in St. Louis and went into the Lemp caverns among other places. This is the truth... move along, nothing to see here.
