Quoting: Brad Daylight This makes perfect sense to me, if you were renting out a place to someone would you want them to smoke in it and then have to repaint the walls and redo carpeting after they leave? you have to repaint and redo carpeting regardless. what are you a slumlord? Now wait. Isn't this a city affair? That's where we have a problem. Landlords have a right to specify use within the property. Then a renter can go elsewhere if they find they can't live with terms of a lease. This is a PRIVATE AGREEMENT. Not a state level affair. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 628775 I have been a smoker for over 35 years, now 2 days into a smoke free life. I regret being a slave to a cancer stick for so long. Yes, you regret being a slave to your own weakness, and now you'd like everyone else to instead be a slave to your government. You are quite the winning contest entry. Not so sure it is my own weakness. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug and smoking was for many years promoted as the cool thing to do. That is the era I grew up in. Close to 60% of people smoked at least casually back then. Ads promoted it, movies glamourized it. We got sucked into a life of misery and addiction. Smoking makes you a slave to the govt. You smoke, the govt collects mega taxes, at least up here they do. A pack of smokes is almost $12. Now who is the slave and who is the master. |

Fully support a ban. For years I was unable to sleep properly in MY OWN HOUSE due to smoke drifting through the walls with my neighbors smoking sessions. Just look at all the houses on your block and assume they all pay insurance, of some kind, on that house and/or property; then take 330,000,000 dollars, and that is about the amount of money the insurance companies make every year, just on houses. Now how many times a year does one of those houses on your block burn down?- take that and subtract it from 330,000,000. The left over amount; after you subtract, is how much money the insurance companies make every year just on houses. Just think how much money insurance companies have to toy with your life. |

If they're going for banning smoking inside your own home then sure as hell they'll be soon following you outside too. I know that its already a law that you can't smoke within 20 feet of the entrance of a business, and a town already attempted to ban smoking anywhere outside. Anyone disrupting the peace health and enjoyment of your home is an environmental enforcement area. If they're renting you can talk to their landlord and suggest mediation. Overwhelmingly the desires of the voting public and electeds are overruled, and now everybody is subject to Frackers poisoning private properties and a dwindling water supply being toxified and drained at unprecedented accelerated levels. This is what happens when boundaries of innocuous-seeming intrusions turn into a monster. Think well and long about this. |
