Re: Look at the "HUGE" sinkhole everyone!
the hole is the entire floor to the left of the door shown in the pic.

The beginning of the video blocks it due to the crane.
Usually when they refer to x amt of ft they refer to the entire unstable area not the size of the actual hole. this one looks like maybe 10x12 exposed at this point and the rest ready to go at any time. Depth?? dont know.

They said they'll be able to get a better look once the house has been cleared away.

This is why we need drones. That hole would never have gotten away.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34088292

If only we had more drones over our homes, this sinkhole..oh wait "sinkhole" could never have formed
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11591025

makes you think how lucky you are to still be walking this earth instead of waking to the horrid this man awoke and died in.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35552881

^^^This. Poor guy. Just imagine something like this happening to any one of us.

I thought that dam TV falling in there on top of him must have broken his bones..no wiggle room where he could have escaped his furniture.
Then they could have demolished that part of the house first thing and pulled him out. They could have gotten him out instead left him there to suffer. What a terrible way to go.

It may be possible the hole is 30 feet wide UNDER the floor of the home. Meaning the house is sitting on edges. The smaller hole is just where the floor fell out.

Years ago I was with a group that mapped caves, and I can assure you that there doesn't have to be a huge hole in the ground for there to be a massive cavern below...

i 've noticed they've(media) have using the sinkhole footage(pics) from south america....from a few years back....actually quite some years back....
strange?
 Quoting: Daniel of the Rose

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of overcompensation for the lack of pictures of this particular hole. I notice on each story, they add like 15 pics of the outside of the house, the brother crying, various LE officials, then pictures of sinkholes around the world.

Lest we forget, an "expert" description of the sinkhole:

"I cannot tell you why it has not collapsed yet," Bill Bracken, the owner of an engineering company called to assess the sinkhole, said of the home. He described the earth below as a "very large, very fluid mass."

"This is not your typical sinkhole," said Hillsborough County administrator Mike Merrill. "This is a chasm. For that reason, we're being very deliberate."

Round hole below the floor falling out, which is squared.

The hole is probably under 90% of the house. Leaving only edges holding it up.

If you know how a house is built, you'll understand why only a square portion fell out.
