ISSUES in this thread....but I just wanted to chime

is, in fact, THEIR SKINS! So--yes, the Irish DID
make it through the 1860's famine on potatoes, but
they always boiled or baked the whole spud.
Read a story recently where a couple with kids
were stranded and had only potatoes to eat. The
husband, being the self-sacrificing in this story,
would cut off the skins and let the wife and kids
eat the yummy white parts. The wife and kids died
and the hubby eating the skins managed to survive.

Also...did you know that Pringles Potatoe Chips are
processed, baked, packaged in those cute cylindars
ALL IN ONE MACHINE the size of one greyhound bus.

Our mistakes? It was started by FDR as a part of the New Deal. That's Greatest Generation, not Boomers. We won't get as good a deal as they did anyway -- they paid in very little and cashed out a lot. The deal has gotten worse, generation by generation, since then. All to finance basically free SS for the WWII generation.

Seriously ? so all of those elderly with no pensions & no other source of income, should just go and work for the rest of their lives ? Are you listening to yourself ? You wouldn't be talking sh** if it was your parents or family members, that were just getting by. How about complaining about all of the occupations / wars that are technically still happening that costs 10 of billions a month. Nada right ? You should run for congress, you'll have alot more fans there, than with the rest of the country.

I pay tax on the land I live on and the house I live in.

I pay school tax even though I don't have and didn't have a child in the public school system.

I pay a lighting tax even though there isn't a street light within a couple miles of me.

I pay a tax on my license plate and a MRDD tax though I have no one in that system.

Though my property is paid for, my living here is conditional on those taxes being paid.

I'm not crying or filled with rage, but it looks like I should be. Which generation should I blame? My parents because they "allowed" it to happen? The parents of the children I'm footing the bill to have educated? Surely there must be someone to blame.

Did you forget that everyone of them have PAID into the system for Social Security.

One solution... is just write us a check for what we paid.

I'd sell out and expatriate to some country that's more "primitive" and simplier, with low taxes. It's the same internet and better weather.

They could write you a check with interest on every penny you paid and you would be lucky to live on it five years IF you didnt get sick and need medical care..I see one poster above complaining they paid $72,000 SS and Medicare...Wow even with interest how long would that last someone if they took it and never received another penny in benefits.If you get sick one hospital stay would clean you out and not another cent income coming to you.
Most of you need to be happy you getting what you are because its more than you would get that way and especially if you live past 70 years old.You rake in way more than you ever paid in and that paid your parents and grandparents benefits.The working people now are paying for the ones drawing now and will likely never draw a dime.You need to hush while you are ahead.

Socialists loathe old people because they are of "no use" to society so I wouldn't put it past him to hose the medicare and ss systems. Someone has to do it. The programs are broke and need to be overhauled. I'm in my late 40's and have always assumed I would not collect SS. And yeah, they took it out of my checks...I won't get paid back and I won't get money in my older years. So plan B is the kids. Going back to old school guys...families take care of the kids and the elders. Consolidate households and pool resources.

Thank you for your thoughts. I'm not complaining. It was a roundabout way of making a point about looking for someone to blame and choosing the wrong person/party to blame.

The boomers are being pointed to as being at fault when they aren't. No more to blame than anyone who has paid school tax for children to grow into adults unable to think, easily programmed, and looking for someone to blame. It's not like there was a choice in the matter.

Sounds like Obama is going ahead with the plan: trim the population starting with the old and infirmed. There will be tent camps if housing won't support them. Then they will raid the middle class. All vestiges of normalcy in America will be gone by that time. But hey, we will all be in shock and awe, paralyzed unable to move away from the train barreling down on us.

what they should do is shut down all social security except to the older people that paid into it. Completely shut down Social Security Disability. Nothing but fraud, waste and a total scam.

In fact throw anyone off Social Security that has not reached the age of 60. It is a retirement fund, not a welfare fund for 20 year old lazy fakes, playing the system. Then make it illegal to put those ads on TV from those damn lawyers saying they will get you on SS Disability.

And one more thing, make it illegal to send SS checks outside this country. Especially to those illegals who went back to Mexico....total fraud, those assholes have not been here long enough to have paid into SS for 30 years.

I went to a SS office the other day and was totaly shocked to see that over 3/4 of the people there were no where near the age of 60. Most looked to be in their 20-30,

POST on GPL about all the wasted $$ on foreign aid and take care of the U.S. first before charity when things get bad instead they give it away to the top riches and foreign aid before thinking about saving AMERICA from bankrupt.
