the running theme of the past 40+ years is to bash/take down the majority.

the majority = white christian males

Well, in your neck of the woods maybe.

Did you ever think from a slightly more global perspective?

Remember, you're a Human being, god dammit!
Your life has value! (Even if you happen to be neither white, Christian, nor male.)

I have seen some parents who enabled their adult sons.
mom does their clothes washing, dad does their taxes. I'm a woman and have been on my own since 18 so normally I see those things as excessive.

Neatly half the married men I know of are actually gay. They use women to cover up. Most men have no respect for women. And that fact is abundant in the northern states.

Could it be more of a cultural thing?

I don't know about the gay part but I do think young men are protected too much by both parents . . . They are given no responsibilities and are given no purpose in the home except to be out of the way and perusing their own selfish interests. . . this was not allowed in generations before. . . everyone had responsibilities to the family. . . .hf

All of the other options are just appendages to the porn problem. You want to a be a revolutionary? Stop looking at internet porn.

Interesting . . . This option has been way down the list. . . no doubt porn is now universally more available than anytime in the history of the world. . . . Yet, it has always existed in one form or another. . . .coffee4

If you do a little research into history, you will find plently of shitty times, yet today, the cards are so stacked in the favor of those born rich. For a man today to make himself into something, he either has to have alot of money, or has powerful connections sense birth. A typical person with no connections and born into a frugal family, will never attain the same wealth as the rich. Its a matter of factors which are not in our favor.

I'm a woman and I often find myself "bashing" women, and for good reason. How are men expected to man up when they aren't given the opportunity? Nowadays, if a man tried to be the leader of his family, he would be considered some kind of mental or emotional abuser, instead of just being the rock. Until women take a step back, look at the big picture, and see what's needed in a family for it to work, things are just going to get worse. Women have a much bigger role in correcting this.

Interesting . . . This option has been way down the list. . . no doubt porn is now universally more available than anytime in the history of the world. . . . Yet, it has always existed in one form or another. . . .coffee4

Get your supercilious coffee cup out of my face and watch the video, OP. Yes. Porn has been around for thousands of years. But only in the last 10 to 15 years has it been accessible in a way that it is injected into the brain so quickly as to overwhelm and completely change it. Recent research shows that conditions that doctors have been treating as primary conditions in men for over the past ten years--depression, impotence, low testosterone, low energy--are not primary conditions at all. They are symptoms of the same disease: internet porn addiction.

And why it down the list as a response in your little poll? Two reasons: first, men are in denial about their problem. Porn is accepted as normal in today's society. But it isn't healthy to use it. It is worse for the brain that some kinds of drugs. Second, you have porn lumped in with drugs and alcohol. Drugs and alcohol have been around for thousands of years. But their impact on men is relatively unchanged. The X factor in today's world is internet porn. It has changed the world and is THE cause for "failure-to-launch" syndrome.

Have you watched your internet porn today? I'm going to guess yes.

Men, and particularly young men, were the early adopters of internet porn. But the problem is becoming more widespread. As porn becomes more matter-of-fact, more women will begin to use it. They will fall into its trap, too.

I have a friend who is an ER doc. She regularly prepares toxicology reports. There is an unusually large number of people who die at home, alone, naked, watching porn. This is the epidemic of our time. None of the other responses to your little poll come anywhere near internet porn in explaining "failure to launch" as our culture is currently experiencing it.

This little poll is just a small step in a process to get opinions which may eventully identify and explore the ills of society . . . it was just a stab in the dark so to speak . . . it in no way was a professional attempt to identify and correct the problem of dysfunction of men or women in society
