Why are there so many "failure-to-Launch Young Men" .. . .? . . .select the most likely reason . ..

"Failure-to-Launch" means young men living in their parent's basement (or something like the basement) instead of living on their own and are not employed or are under employed because of a lack of motivation or fear of failure . . . they may or may not have a girlfriend and have no ambition or desire to get married and start a family of their own . . . etc. . . .

A failure to launch girl can move in with an older man or guy/girl with extra cash. Guys have less social mobility when they are POS.

Girls seem to pursue academia much more than previous generations. With added competition comes a raised bar. Add in the drugs and screens young men are vulnerable to failure and no motivation to pick up the pieces.

Every generation before the parents of the millenials had life or death shit to deal with on the daily.

The generation of the parent's of the 15-30 year olds haven't had to do anything. They haven't had to learn to do anything but the corporate grind. Now it's about time. back in the 80's the foundation was stripped from the homes"the father" in his place the single mother was promoted,they turned the father into dead beat dads.they promoted a single mother that can do no wrong.so alot of lil boys grew up 1 with out the foundation,2 with a mother that was to busy leaping from man to man rather than making a family and allowing the father to do his role"teach,instill morals,work ethic" while the mothers role is to back up what father does and also nurture.so instead since mommy could'nt fill dads shoes the gov ran school system,t.v,movies,and the thugs down the street raised them....

BTW, even as a woman I think men get a horrible deal in the case of divorce. My brother had to pay out $5,000 a month when his wife dumped him. Then as a self employed his business went up and down until after 10 years it was dead.
She still hauled him into court, threatened with jail by the judge, and he did sell his house.
But a man loses EVERYTHING, his children in the morning, most of his income..if I were a man I would lose my mind with that kind of pressure.

The #1 reason is institutionalized mediocrity. Go to a little league baseball tournament, every team gets a trophy whether they finished first or last. Every kid is told he is smart in school no matter how stupid he is. On down the line. They took the Special Olympics spirit and spread it to everyone.

That's elementary, middle and high school. That's when they pressure parents to medicate their kids.

The dichotomy of motherhood and lack of an active father.
On one hand we have welfare, don't give a shit where my children are moms.
At the other extreme, we have helicoptor moms who do not teach young men how to be responsible for themselves or their bad choices.
not my personal experience, just an example. I have a male friend who works in the courts, the example above is quite common. the dice are loaded in favour of women, if you know your opponent is holding all the aces, do you fold or go all in?

My theory is that we have made life too physically easy. When we don't have to physically work, like they did 100 years ago, to put food on the table and a roof over their heads people get depressed. Why? because their brain chemistry is off due to the lack of daily physical exertion.

An educated male with no job experience has absolutely no chance in this job market. He is over-qualified for unskilled labor such as fast food and he is under-qualified for skilled labor because there are many more experienced candidates in need of a job.

There used to be a starting place for this sector in semi-skilled blue collar labor, but that has dwindled due to the lack of manufacturing in the country. This sector of the population will not have their chance until the older generation starts retiring, which is another issue altogether since the retirement age keeps moving up.
Women do not feel the effects as significantly because they are treated as "minorities" in the workplace, especially in traditionally male roles.

I think women feel the need to prove themselves more. It leaves men confused about their own role in life. If women are more than willing to take on everything to prove "something" to "someone"...what's the man left to do but sit back and watch?

Its changing and impacting both males and females, leading to weight issues, cancer, infertility and more, however, I think it is impacting the male 'drive' as per your poll questions. Do guys spend much more time on video games, than girls, generally I see that in my family. If you're interested in reading more, Wikipedia has some statistics on EDC's lowering testosterone levels, fertility levels and even creating low blood sugar, which impacts energy and drive.

I'd say most men have completely given up on life in general and do anything to escape, because there literally is no other option. Seriously, what the fuck is the point in even trying? Either you try and fail, feel low about yourself, depressed...slowly go insane. Or you play video games or do drugs to escape. They are really the only two options I can see. If you do become "successful" you make lots of money to keep some bitch interested for a while until the money dries up or she finds someone better and she leaves with half of your shit.

Boys are more affected in every aspect. Starting with the majority of boys having no father/male role model at home. Schools expected to parent because mom's working due to no male at home. Couples allowed to file for divorce so easily leaving kids with no male in the home. See a pattern? It all comes down to fatherless homes. Girls follow their "do-it-all" mothers footsteps...boys grow up witnessing the women doing it all. Where does that leave them? Modern men don't know how to father, don't know how to take care of themselves, and expect the women to do it all just like they saw their mother do. Vicious cycle.

Maybe it's because they don't have a role to fulfill anymore...one day, I was sitting in a waiting room at an airport and I was people watching. I noticed alot of young men there and this thought occurred to me. Men, in the past, had a role to play. Be it the hunter, provider or protector, he was it. In our society today, it's not necessary anymore. Maybe that's why there's so many failure to launch young men? It made me sad to think that, but my opinion hasn't changed much in the 10 years since I first had the thought. We have to change that...men have an important role to play as well as women. They are essential to the balance of life.

The lack of Fathers in there kids life. I couldnn't wait to leave home, you know wine, women, an good weed. Men today have no balls. I blame this on lawyers and cops. Back in the day you got into a fight at least every other month. I mean no gun,or knives, just fists. Now if you raise your voice it's terroristic threating and jail. The man has been spade and neutered in todays world. I think their putting salt peter in the food, like in prison. I have two friends and they are saying the same thing, there kids are in their mid 20's and even 32 and they won't get jobs, just lazy I guess.
