I believe it's largely due the paradigm shift as to what constitutes proper parenting. We've let psychologists talk us out of doing our job. Coddle a child no matter what they do, put them on pills if there is a problem, and for God's sake don't you dare expect a damn thing from them. They should not be afraid of us and if anything goes wrong, it's somebody else's fault. Is it any wonder what kind of little monsters this kind of thinking has produced?
