Yes, BUT...

To get all those goodies?

You need to be a SINGLE female WITH a child and a MEDICAL disability.

A single man can't get half of any of those goodies.
 Quoting: Super Bowl Dave

Agreed my sister in law falls under this category, she lies about how many kids she has living with her plus she gets the single men to live with her. She doesn't make as much as me but pretty close. It is very frustrating.

I would love to tell the state or someone about her but I don't for 2 reason 1 no one would listen. 2 I would hate if something happened to them kids. She has 5 and only 2 of them live with her.

It is very frustrating, to work my butt off and she doesn't but karma will get her when those kids turn 18 and then she is out on her ass, extremely fat ass I might add.

Someone raised an interesting question on Zero Hedge today about the collapse - whether or not we'll actually have one or perhaps our living standard will just slowly deteriorate over time until we end up in a Mad Max society and no one remembers the "good old days."
 Quoting: calx

i think it will be a gradual decline and it will be similar to the frog in the pot of cold water. we will never feel the heat until it is too late.

Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2011, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support. What's the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day.

To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $25.00 an hour.

[link to budget.senate.gov]

knowing this why is anyone surprised that president santa claus was re-elected?? romney promised to put people to work and provide jobs? pfft....why would anyone want a job?
 Quoting: davvi

Do these stats include Social Security and Medicare? A lot of articles talking about "welfare" include those items as well.
 Quoting: Little Bee

no i don't think it is including that as it says: "food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits."

now some seniors could be on food stamps and subsidized housing and i would never begrudge them that, but what i think this is referring to are those who have been on benefits all of their lives.

It's amazing that some limp-dick complaining a-hole would bitch about where they get the stats without reading the info in the link.

Nice job d-bag! Can't figure out why we're in the shitter...

OP implies that this is what everyone on any sort of assistance receives, which is far from the truth. Also, people forget 'welfare' requires being a single mother.

Conservatives are just as idiotic as the far left.

isn't that interesting??? and how many of those states went for obama in the last election.
 Quoting: davvi

The South was almost exclusively RED states during the election but yet we are on this list and likely will be forever more now.

We already had many counties with a "minority majority" of ration of more blacks than whites even before the more recent influx of all the illegal aliens.

Now we are completely over run.

Many people do not realize this and that it conbtributes to our chronic poverty.

And this is not a racist statement. It's just a fact that minorities have greater participation in welfare programs, higher crime rates and other social problems.

I have no answer for any of this and really feel like just giving up now. Pretty hopeless.

that's the most fucked up play on words since " I'm from the govt and I'm here to help"

When will you leftists wake the fuck up and see that your bullshit plans and programs are destructive to the country and everyone in it.

Look, go to the Inflation Calculator.com. Type in 1965 and $5 which was by the way what an AVERAGE wage earner might expect per hour and that was LOW. It will convert this amount to the 2013 equivalent. You might be shocked to know that it is OVER $36 an hour. So how did we sustain the economy to this point CREDIT/CREDIT/CREDIT and more CREDIT. By the late 80's most people equated CREDIT with earned income and used it in the same way that is how the hell we got to where we were in 2008. The new normal, credet has dried up/asset value has dropped through the floor/credit cards the driving force might as well be non existant/ the UNIONS that relatively kept up with inflation and drove the expansion of the middle class have been savaged by the Koch Bros and the general population who are totally ignorant or oblivious to what has happened which I am afraid includes you Davvi.

$25.00 an hour ? average ??
according to who ? a top carpenter in new england was good for that in 2007. now many of those same carpenters are working for $15.00 hr.
i'm sure many more industrial workers have been affected. so where does this average come from ? in southern states those same top carpenters are at $12-15.00 an hour to begin with.
So that makes no sense
