I must be extremely stupid to have chosen to come here in the first place.

But to choose to come back again after knowing what I'd be getting in to? That's a level of stupidity that cannot be surpassed.
 Quoting: KonspiracyKitty

naw... your not stupid...

The place is much like a machine...

and just like any machine... It takes special folks to make sure it runs smoothly...

some of us are the mechanics of the system...

might as well enjoy it... grinning

I 'think' I have learned all my lessons and am ready to move on.

But I laughed at the comment above about coming back as a criminal! I'm giving that dude a green :)

there is no such thing.

So, do you believe, when your dead, your dead, that kind of thing? That would be a akin to hopelessness in my book.
 Quoting: skyblau

That's not hopelessness, that's just the way things are.
What is "hopelessness" to me, is the fact that so many treat this world like a shit-heap because they assume they're going to find a new one when they die. They're essentially damning the future of the human race with apathy.

Re: How many of you would choose to reincarnate here again?
If you had a choice of reincarnating here again, would you?
I was curious of how many would actually choose this path.

I for my part would be perfectly content moving on to a higher dimensional world. I have dreamed about it as well, and feel that I don't belong here.
 Quoting: skyblau

I think I was reincarnated. I just don't remember my past lives. I think I was so determined to elevate into another dimension I braved the light barrier, endured searing pain and was completely "soul wiped" of my past experiences, then cast back to earth for another rebirth.

Now, I am at that age that I have a longing and strong insistence to not to return (again), that I might face the light barrier (again) and risk a repeated "soul wipe."

It's like defiance, but the cost seems worse with each try.

Anyway I have Yeshua. I hope that will make all the difference from my past attempts.

I would return, and I would return for as many cycles as needed. I believe there are higher levels than this that we all must return to at some point in time for each of us, so as long as that is necessary, I will come back for whatever is needed, who am I to say what I have been planted here for, I haven't attained "Enlightenment" from what I can tell. I just believe in a higher purpose for my soul, and I will continue reaching for it until I reach where I NEED to be as a one-being with all else.

You will reincarnate to whatever

Re: How many of you would choose to reincarnate here again?
I chose yes but it would have conditions, but i would first like to seek out the beauty love and oneness of the cosmos and I would also like to go to another world if baby earthy is still full of hatred evil and general bad mindedness. I would like to to some place I am valued and cherished, and i would want to give the same love as I receive, this cannot be compromised next time around, and I would also like to go to a place where we dont have to type on a shitty mini keyboard where spelling mistakes are rife, maybe where i could just think the whole concept and send it from mind to mind.

If you think about it...the space your within is infinite...Mater is infinite also...It just changes forms.

So you could have been a alien in your past life sitting in this same space.!

Yes, or a horse or even a cute little dolphin or beagle, and I know I chose to come here, maybe it was to learn about what life is about, or simply to observe so I know what life shouldn't be about!!

The OP knows something about the return, mabye read stuff, or better still from an inner knowlege but if we have done good here, we do have a choice......

Yeah but imagine it like 10,000 years from now, maybe it will be more like STAR TREK than STAR WARS, where we respect each other, where tyranny despotism and other such negative forces we see at play today disnt exist, where love peace and unity were the new world order?

Earth is only stinky because some have ignored the afore mentioned good sides of humans, so maybe tomorrow will be better?

Ask yourself, do you hate earth ot the negative parts of humanity and nature, and if these elements were eradicated would you consider coming back?

No.

Earth, as beautiful and wondrous as it can be, is an imperfect world. What I have found is that there are times when Earthly circumstances are not conducive to living a peaceful and happy life.

Yet, I also know that I will still have lessons to learn, so I guess I am destined to wind up here again anyway.

Oh, well.

Aw, thank you for that, although I do believe that the GLP community includes quite a few souls that are here to guide others...a much higher calling, which I am thankful for!

---

Sometimes I wonder if our rebirth cycle is not just to learn, but, to teach.

I imagine that in the highest realms, we would need to have the ability to give of ourselves in a symbiotic fashion...in a way that is as involuntary as the air we breathe on this Earthly plane.

Meaning, we would not need any forethought in the giving of our energies...we would just 'do' as necessary, because THAT is the order of the Universe uncumbered. The free will we are allowed thus becomes the epitome of being free...for we no longer need to give our path and purpose any thought: we just DO, for we ARE-- which, IMHO, is the purest form of "I AM" that exists.

----

So, if that is the crux of what we are to perfect during all of our incarnations, even as an animal, an insect, a rock, a tree, a poor or sickly person, our existence on this plane would still have a truly needful purpose, assuming that purpose was for us to just 'be' in a place where some other soul has a need to learn respect, reverence, compassion, or, to give of themselves more freely this time around.

As we have arrived here with no memory of where it was we came from and why we have returned, who's to say we are not just students, but, also teachers?

This is how life seems to me. Much of my own time has been spent just being there when someone needed advice, comfort, shelter, rehab, as someone to listen, and, as someone a person in need came to help figure out some problem. I have often joked that my life is like some uncharted Salvation Army way-station.

Yet, ironically, when it comes to advancing my own material needs, I fall short. With each year -ha! with each passing moment it seems-- my positioning slips a bit further down the rabbit-hole, my having little ability to actually help myself in reasonable ways. That is to say, without 'lowering' my standards in order to achieve or procure those things which would, oh, make my remaining time here on Earth sooooo much less an emotional, mental, and, financial conundrum!

Therefore, I have wondered if 'teacher/guide' is more my purpose this time around, for it seems that that is really all I am good at. Perhaps I am not supposed to advance in material ways, for my destiny, my fate, is that I need to learn how to happily exist without benefit of much worldly assistance. As if I must learn how to 'be' just so, while still retaining a large degree of satisfaction, as best described in the words under my handle here: "in awe of many things...."

IS THIS OUR REAL PLAYBOOK?

Re: How many of you would choose to reincarnate here again?
Today I got my past life reading done for me by my friend. I really enjoyed this reading. It is really specific listing three of my past lives which have a bearing on my life now. I found out I had lived in Italy in one of them, was a female farmer and the time period too. I was quite impressed with how the details meshed up with my life now. This explains why I enjoy certain hobbies, and have certain traits. I got to select three types of readings of my choice, so I chose my three week ahead tarot, past life reading, and career path reading for $20 on etsy. I have used her before and recommend her very highly.
I can send you her etsy link if anyone is interested.I won't post here because I won't spam, however you can contact me and I will tell you where to go.
The first time she read for me I knew she was the real deal, so I have used her many times. I read tarot cards too, but prefer to have someone else do my reading. I am posting this for the benefit of those who would like to learn more about their past life, because it helped me to learn more about my own.

Does a college graduate repeat highschool?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5070268

If he doesn't "graduate" this spiritual plane, he will return again. In a way earth is like a testing ground for our spirituality.
If he "graduates" he can move to a better spiritual dimension, however he can choose to return here if he wants to help someone even after he "graduates". That is the way I understand it.
 Quoting: skyblau

From discarnate sources, reincarnation is still an issue, i.e. nobody seems to know. Do we choose to reincarnate? Are we forced to reincarnate? Do we automatically reincarnate? What is the difference between Life here and the Afterlife? The pleasures of life, i.e. food, sex, crisp sunny days, the sounds of the wind through the pines, holidays, etc - you won't get any of that in the Afterlife. All these 'good things' might pull you back into Life, in a new body. That could be the danger of falling alseep. But what is there to DO in the Afterlife? Can you help anyone over there? Are there different planes, i.e. lower planes inhabited by nasty souls? Would you volunteer to help them get out of their 'prisons'?
In truth, this Earth is also a 'prison'. Here, we are slaves in a system run by the Few, most people are ignorant and poor. Why do we have this setup, why?

I'll take the higher dimensional world too, I wouldn't want to go through the human cycle again, too long. Though maybe I wouldn't mind being an animal, particularly one that can swim.
