I did read some John Cusack tweets standing with Rand.
 Quoting: Sleeping Giant

Cusack is one of the rare outspoken patriotic celebrities.

"John Cusack, actor and self described civil libertarian, isn’t impressed with President Obama, he said during an appearance on "CBS This Morning" on Tuesday.

"Following the political race this year? And what are you thinking? How are you feeling?” co-host Gayle King asked Cusack.

“I sort of feel like there's some kind of Rubicon line issues that I hope are addressed that don't have to do with left and right, and some of those issues, some of the issues that the Obama administration has with due process and with the assassination of American citizens — this speech by Eric Holder — I think, are deeply troubling. I think that's beyond left and right,” the actor replied. “But from a civil libertarian point of view, the excesses of the Bush administration — I think he had a constitutional obligation to correct that, and I don't think they have, and I think that's deeply troubling for my nephews and for my future.”

“Meaning you expected more from the president and attorney general?” co-host Charlie Rose inquired.

“Yeah, I don't think the executive branch — I think that they've, kind of, continued that imperial presidency of the Bush administration with these claims to executive privilege,” Cusack said
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1606092

I had no idea cusack was awesome.
 Quoting: *Rick Grimes*

War Inc. was a great satire. Cusack wrote the majority of the movie himself. I'd be surprised if he didn't lurk on GLP.

This is all a distraction to take your eyes off of killing Americans overseas with drones.

Remember?

Just a couple weeks ago?

When all the hub bub was going on about killing Americans PERIOD with drones?

Now it's ok to kill Americans overseas but not here at home.

The next one will be, it's ok to kill Americans at home as long as they are armed and declared enemy combatants.

The next one will be It's ok to kill unarmed Americans that the president deems a threat.

This is how they acclimate you.

And it's working.

You have to just stand up and say NO. PERIOD.

Draw your line in the sand and stand with the very tips of your toes, right on that line, but not over. Cross your arms over your chest and say NO.

That's it! I'm DONE giving another inch.

You can do it.

Not a single word about the filibustering of Rand.

No doubt.

That legislation that started up in the middle of February gave new blood to people.

I'm pretty stoked about that.

That basically says that if we ever do get into a fight with the fed over guns, I have the power of the state behind me to repel the gun grabbers.

As if we need them.

[link to livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com]
 Quoting: snark

your post is 2:00+ pm sorry got side tracked by personal life...so I'm late in replying...

question to Holder:

"Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American 'not engaged' in combat on American soil?" Holder: NO

My further question would be - if they show up at my door to 'take' my guns does that make me an 'engaged' combatant on American soil?

I'm not trying to be an ass but I still would like an answer to - What did he accomplish? He gave up without an answer from the WH.. when other Rep. were finally stepping up to give him relief...

I'm not looking to be called a dumbass, troll, shill, stupid or ignorant -- over the last 2 yrs, I"m just learning about the coruption of the government - and theres a lot to learn and most is beyond belief!!!that 'they can get away with the shit 'they' do get away with...

I respect Rand so much for standing up like he did and to the other senators who stood up and gave relief to him.

Please help me understand why after almost 13 hrs .... he gave up the floor ---without an answer from the occupier of the WH - Obama. I'm having a hard time understanding why he did that.....thats all, I just don't understand why he went on for almost 13 hrs then just stepped down without an answer....

Well he did mention he couldn't "hold it" anymore...lol he said he would've liked to stay 12 more hours, but basically needed the restroom.

I think he accomplished more than he originally intended to. The Obama admin gave him a letter this morning stating they did NOT have the power to kill an american on american soil who is not in combat...sorry I'm paraphrasing, can't remember the exact wording. And Paul said that's all he wanted.

But on top of that, millions of people now know the government thinks they can kill americans overseas, and that drones are above us now. I at lunch was checkin to see if the msm was reporting on it, and judge Nap and Shep smith were going off about how they shouldn't be able to even kill an american overseas without due process. Citing al awalki or however it's spelled, and his son being droned.

They were saying that this debate needs to be had, that these are slippery slopes. Millions of more people today know about this stuff than yesterday.

Next step is to get surveillance drones out of the sky also. Which Rand Paul said he is going to work on next.

So IMO it was a great thing.

Holder's response is a dig. He said that the 'President' would not have the power to use a drone against a combative...

It's what he didn't say.

He didn't say that a committee appointed by POTUS couldn't command a strike on a combative. (and who defines 'combative' or 'terrorist currently?... A COMMITTEE APPOINTED BY THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE)

[didn't feel like reading the other 70+ pages, so if anyone in here with a brain already pointed this out, sorry! To the rest of you who don't see it... mark my words sheep!!]

I have to wonder how many people who think like this have actually seen the horrors of war.

Remember in the movie "The Patriot" Benjamin Martin was the toughest dude in the whole movie, but he was also one of the most reluctant to go to war.

The reason for this is because he had already been to war, and seen what it does to people. He was always having people compliment him on being a hero, but privately he was very regretful of what he had done.

I am not saying that people shouldn't stand up for what is right, and protect themselves and their families from oppression and tyranny.

What I am saying is that war and violence is not something you should seek out, and also not something you should be "drooling" over.

I deployed to war zones many times, and take it from me there is little more than pain and suffering in them. It may seem cool at first because of all the programming, but unless you have some serious screws loose it's all bad in reality.

Anyone that takes pleasure from killing needs to get their mind right, because the levels of negative energy you are exposed to doing so just aren't healthy.

Re: Breaking now Rand Paul filibustering
Great post!

I don't know if I believe in all that "energy" stuff, but as for the rest, you are spot on IMO

Thanks.

Ya I realize that talking about energy kind of gets into new age stuff which some think is baloney, but I assure you there is some truth in it.

One thing I learned about TPTB is that they mostly just twist things around to suit their needs, they don't really create anything.

So basically what I am saying is that there is some truth in pretty much everything, and often lies as well on the flip side. That's why it's so damn hard to find the truth, because most everything is a little bit of both.

There is a Meat Loaf song called "Heaven can Wait" and a line in it is "Everything's a lie and that's a fact." Well he just may be right that there is at least a little bit of a lie in most everything, but I think he was going a little too far with that statement.

Take the Bible for example, it has been translated and altered over the years so that it's very unlikely it has maintained the same exact intended message. I think it even says something in the Bible about terrible things happening to those that alter it.

So it is enough to make your head spin sometimes, because you sense some truth in something and want to believe it all. But when you do that you will probably be deceived at least to some extent. This is something that I battle with to this day, and I have no doubt that will be true for some time to come.

Not saying I have all the answers, but I do know that keeping an open mind helps a lot because of this. When you consider all possibilities before deciding what to believe, it greatly increases your chances of finding the truth.
