Ever since I was a kid I remember getting an overwhelming feeling, maybe once or twice a year. I've never told anyone about it, mainly because it's really hard to describe, but I'll try. All at once I find myself slipping into an altered state that amazingly pleasant. I almost feel like my body is starting to become detached from my soul but it doesn't. For some reason when it happens I get the mental image of a wooden spool that thread usually comes on (but without the thread). I think I visualize a spool because it sort of feels like I'm being stretched or expanded from my torso outward in a way that resembles an hourglass. It's such a wonderful feeling that I try my hardest to prolong it but it never lasts for more than about 30 seconds.

All the talk about time warps made me think of this for some reason. I hope I don't sound completely nutty!
