The trick is to keep stapes on hand. These are often not the choicest of foods, but the will keep you energized. Keeping some quality camping gear around might also be very useful.

However I think keeping your tank full of gas is one of the best ways to be prepared. Fools will not be able to flee waiting in long gas lines pumping air out of tanks.

I'm not fom the government lol and I know a couple hundred isn't enough but when you're on the run in the forest I wouldn't want 6k worth of food with me unless I'm staying at my house to defend it which in most cases will be to the death, I've heard stories of how the commies confiscated our family property back in ussr so there's no point in staying

instead of SHTF, look at it more as a buffer so your allways ahead of increase in food prices

A few hundred dollars is a drop in the bucket.. We have around $10K socked away with food,, meds,,, ammo,, guns,, and basic tools like other posters pointed out..

If we lose the grid in a matter of 1 week we would be living back in the mid 1850s.. No power,, no transportation for food,, and no law..

i think we have around 200 pounds of rice, and some canned food (mostly meats and beans) to last for 3 persons atleast for a few months but plan is 2 years of freezedried for 1 person

and then u have to think further.. when thats eaten up, then what.. so we have a canner, and i'll try to spend some days in the forest with a friend and try to make a meal out of what we find.. im looking forward to that.. and then i have a green house plan
