Anonymous Coward User ID: 739427 Puerto Rico 03/06/2013 07:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You'll need more than a couple hundred dollars of food. Try 3-4 thousand dollars if you really want to make it. Good book to read is "One Second After". What life will be like after the grid goes down. Will make you want to empty your bank account and max your cards to prepare though. Our society is very fragile..... I have enough for 6 people for a year and enough ammo and guns to defend it as well. You'll need a way to purify water and generate heat. Get ready for the 1800's again. Saws, axes, tools will be important. Stockpile salt and sugar as well |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6712969 instead of SHTF, look at it more as a buffer so your allways ahead of increase in food prices if you have 3 months, then you can be broke and dont need to buy food for 3 months |

Sodbust User ID: 13716875 United States 03/06/2013 07:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A few hundred dollars is a drop in the bucket.. We have around $10K socked away with food,, meds,,, ammo,, guns,, and basic tools like other posters pointed out.. If we lose the grid in a matter of 1 week we would be living back in the mid 1850s.. No power,, no transportation for food,, and no law.. I agree,, the book one second after is a good wake up call and worth the investment to gain some much needed insight.. With north Korea playing with fire they are with in a few months to launch such a EMP and cripple this nation.. Sodbust |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27962372 Norway 03/06/2013 08:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | not sure if your joking, but all you do is read economy, demographics etc, basically, look around you, and think when you see all the fatties in the US you know the system is at its endgame, your food is so dilluted, empty of vitamins and filled with cheap fat, toxins and garbage its a joke... they are fat but starving think about it this way.. if we go back to scratch, then we'd eat stuff from nature, the most healthy foodsource there is, but its too many people so we cant do that |
