Guys there is a simple fix if you use google chrome!
Go to your settings
At the bottom it will say "Show Advanced Settings"
Click that
Under Privacy it will say "Content Settings"
Click that
Scroll down to where it says Plug Ins
And select "Click to play"

NO MORE SIDE BAR ADS!

Is because PEOPLE decided to make ADSpam, which has even made my browser CRASH, or change to an advertisement website, WHILE I'M WATCHING A VIDEO, and I swear, if I'm watching a video, and I hear that blonde bitch talk about fashion while I'm watching a video, I'm throwing out my computer.

Friggn YouTube (owned and screwed up by Google) has more commercials than a few months ago. An now CBS' LastFm sucks because they are now only using YouTube and.. All the friggn commercials. God bless corporate America!

It's even worse now. Adverts are crowding the screen on the homepage and the videos, they pop up at he beginning, durin the videos and at the end and I was trying to watch a vid just now and For the first 10 minutes there were 15 adverts straight! whenever I turned off one, a new one would start. I understand that they have to pay for this huge website but does it really need them to be constantly there? It's making my videos and website lag!

I can see the reason for ads, as somebody said, the server has to be paid for. What I can't see why would Google whose motto is "We do no evil" is playing laud ads. Ho laud you ask, I measured with an instrument. Background noise elevl is 30Dbell (no playing talking or music). Person talking normally on Youtube is 70DBell. Geico fucking company that I am boycotting idiotic ads are 90Dbell. OSHA requires hearing protection at 85Dbell. The company Google that says "We do no Evil" is actually everyday causing thousands of people loose hearing. And if you think you are not of them because you are not watching Youtube, think again. We now have National Health Insurance and we will all pay for all the deaf people, unless we make our congressmen to pass a law to block laud ads.

Because nothing is "free" on the internet. If YOU are not paying for something on the internet....then YOU are the product that someone has sold to someone else. What websites you go to, what videos you watch...and then they shove advertising in your face...

Because "Fair Use" does not apply to those who try to monetize their videos.

What browser are you using? I don't any issues with FF---using adblock and ghostery. Safari seems to be hit and miss.

Get a debit card that's empty but valid,click on the most annoying ad there and try to buy something with that card over and over. I do that to spam emails,they get the point after a while. I think it jams up there system when there in receive money mode and you keep submitting.

The only way to react to this move from Google is to stop visiting their web page: YouTube and stop using their browser, I think that's what will make them think: "Perhaps we are doing something wrong, you guys", and it's the only way to respond in this sort of economic structure-no customers-no offering and eventually bankruptcy.

Perhaps a better question it to ask why do you think the people behind Youtube created and grew it? Do you think its a public service? Ads are there to earn revenue - the point of Youtube. Ads are less effective than ever due to over-saturation, so they need ever more. A self-defeating death spiral, but one that we can't get out of.
