Well, the constellation orion is steady marching across the sky. If the earths orbit was halted is progression across the night sky would be halted as well. This has not happened. We are still traveling around the sun hence it is getting warmer in North America.
As I say, we will be struck by impactors when wormwood comes by. One is as a burning mountain. These are described in the bible. If the bible is not your thing, then you have nothing to worry about. If my beliefs offend you I apologize, you have my permission to continue your life without the bible, not that you need my blessing. Good luck.

That is *utterly* incorrect, Nancy, and shows as flawed a view of the Universe as Mankind five thousand years ago. You are imagining the Universe *orbiting the Earth.*
In fact, the constellations viewed from Earth are NOT the same regardless of whether the Earth is on this or that side of the Sun.
Why? Because the Sun gets IN THE WAY of certain constellations at certain points of the year, as the Earh goes round it.
By the by, the Constellations that the Sun gets in the way of have a name. They are called the Zodiac.
What sign are you, Nancy? Did you ever wonder why that sign is yours? Well, the reason why is that your birthday fell within a group of days when the Sun was IN that constellation.
The Sun covers constellation after constellation in the Zodiac, as Earth moves around the Sun. The reason certain birthdays have astrological signs is that is the month the Sun is IN that constellation.
So, for example, if the Earth had halted in December 2003, you could never see Capricorn. It would be behind the Sun, in all the Sun's "light pollution." And Capricorns are born during December. Make sense?
But, we CAN see Capricorn. It rises a little before dawn every morning right now. So Earth cannot be halted in its December position, or you couldn't see it at all. Capricorn is no longer subject to "light pollution."
What we can't see now, because it is behind the Sun, is Aries. Exactly on time. And right now Aries' are celebrating their birthdays.
So, once again: Do you agree that Sun is in Aries right now? (Do you notice that Aries is right about where the Sun is right now?)
If Earth is "halted" in it's December position, how can the Sun BE in Aries? How can we SEE Capricorn?
Perhaps you can explain this non-halted halting, Nancy?

Your point is valid. However, because of precession we are actually off by one constellation in the zodiac. The sun is actually rising in pisces not aries. This is one of the failings of astrology. If you are born today, you are still considered an Aries even though, technically, you are actually a Pisces.
I am just pointing this out for the sake of accuracy...not picking on you.

That actually sounds kind of funny coming from a person who refuses to answer my question, so I'll ask it again:
Nancy states that "Planet X" will be here and the "pole shift" will happen LONG before 2012. Considering it's now 2006, and based on what you and "elle" keep telling everyone, it all should happen very soon. So, with that in mind, at what point will you finally have the balls to admit that "Planet X" as Nancy describes it does NOT exist? 2009? 2010? Or will you hold out all the way to 2012? Because either way, in 2012, Nancy herself will either have to admit she was wrong or come up with another "white lie" to cover her ass. Personally, I predict she'll claim it was all another "white lie" or she'll come up with some other kind of techno-babble "scientific explanation" using her "Dictionary to the Star Trek Universe." |

Until then, note the constellation movements from January 1 to Dec 31 and you will find the Earth tilting back and forth but no orbital changes. |

Alright, I'll do my best to explain. Im not an Astronomy major, my points of debate are relatively simple for simple people like me. The major constellations of my part of the globe are Orion in winter and the big dipper in summer. There is also a crooked y shaped one in summer, I don't know its name but I don't think that is important as long as you know what it looks like. At the begining of the year orion is almost directly above, a little to the south. The constellations still move from east to west because we still rotate. As spring approaches the Big Dipper appears from the north and as summer nears it moves more overhead. As fall and winter approach Orion starts to come back from the south and this goes on year round, the Earth just tipping back and forth. The Polar wobble affects it just slightly but this is just a 24 hour process, nothing major. This is what I see with my eyes and this is what I believe. I have no choice but to believe Nancy as I've had to many real life experiences to go back now and I'm not dense enough to just forget all that has happened these past years of my life. It was time for me to wake up and grow up. Very hard to do. |

If you would just go back up and look at the picture I drew, you will see how it really works. I did make one typo in there, I should have said "orbiting" where I wrote "rotating".
Don't you see that the dark side of the earth points to a different section of the sky when it is on different sides of the sun?

Had you ever watched the night skies before hearing of PX? In other words, are you really making a mental comparison of how the sky looked when it was "normal" to what you see now? |

I'm sorry, but you're wrong.
The rotation of the Earth causes the stars to rise and set, much as the Sun does. That is correct.
However, the motion of the Earth AROUND the Sun means that at different times of the year, there will be differing constellations. The glare of the Sun covers a different part of the sky during each of the seasons.
Thus, Winter Constellations are the ones hidden by the Sun's glare during the summer, and vice versa.
There are some constellations visible year round depedning on where on Earth you are. However, the Zodiac is not among these. Parts of the Zodiac are hidden depending on what time of YEAR it is, not what time of night it is.
Now, keeping in mind 548's correction (Thanks!), I can ask again:
