Anonymous Coward User ID: 35674078 United States 03/09/2013 02:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here was my experience once. I do believe intuition played a part. It is a little long but does detail what I experienced. This is what I wrote to investigators when trying to find answers after it happened. My experience is unlike any others, that I’m aware of, and I appreciate the opportunity to share it with you. First a little background about me. I was raised a Catholic during my childhood but I stopped going to church in my early teens as I never felt that it was right for me. I am a very spiritual person though, who tries to do positive things more often than I can do negative things. I’ve always known that there is much more to life than this life I’m currently living. One late evening in September of 1998, I was in my garage, smoking a cigarette and flipping through the newspaper on the table in front of me, with my back to the open garage door behind me, when I felt what can only be described as a sense of imminent danger to me. This feeling was very real and literally made all my hairs stand on end. I’m a pretty intuitive individual that can usually tell if the situation I’m in is a danger or not but this was beyond intuitive as I knew I was in immediate danger. What happened next came as a complete and utter surprise to me as I wasn’t consciously aware of controlling it. It was as if I was just an observer watching through my eyes. Right after this feeling of dread came over me, I spun around from the table, faced the left side of the open garage door (as if something was going to come into the garage door opening from beyond the wall), lifted my right arm straight out with the palm facing out and said one word - BEGONE. When I said BEGONE, a beam of light shot from my forehead and expanded into a cone about 10 feet in diameter at about 15 feet away from me on the other side of the open garage door. I not only saw this cone of light but heard a whoosh sound and felt it drain me as it left. This whole thing happened very quickly, no more than 5 seconds at most, from the time I turned around to when it was over. After the beam left, my head exploded in stars and my legs started to buckle. My next conscious thought after feeling the dread, was knowing I was going to pass out and not wanting to hit my head on the concrete garage floor so I turned and grabbed the edge of the table behind me. I then dropped to my knees and slumped to the ground as I had been totally drained of energy. After rolling onto my back I laid there for about 5 minutes breathing very hard till I had enough energy to get my legs back under me and make it inside to the couch where I laid down. For the life of me, I couldn’t believe what just happened. I was shocked and speechless as it had came as a complete surprise. The thing that perplexed me the most was who was controlling me as I knew I wasn’t. That was the first and only time in my life when I felt my body wasn’t mine, that I had no control of it. Nothing is more personal than your body and mind, and watching from the inside just like a passenger on a ride, as it did its own thing was very overwhelming and unnerving. Since I knew it wasn’t me, it only left me with two other choices: my higher self or an outside influence. I tend to believe a higher power was watching over me and took control to save me. I was never aware of nor felt like some entity entered me. It was more like someone was pulling the puppet strings. It seems weird to me that I raised my arm and put my palm out, like when you do to stop someone, then said BEGONE. I wouldn’t have thought of that word. Maybe something else like stop, don’t come any closer, get away from me, etc. But not BEGONE. I knew of the word but it wasn’t in my vocabulary. When I said it, I said it very authoritatively, very deep and very distinctly. It didn’t actually sound like me. And this light, I know I have a higher self but this was beyond what I thought I was capable of. I know it came from me as I could feel it leave and take my energy with it. When it shot from my forehead, I was aware of how bright it was but at the same time it didn’t illuminate the inside of the garage nor illuminate the bushes on the other side of the alleyway. It stopped right past the wall of the garage door opening. I tend to believe it was a spiritual light. As to what I was being protected from, I have no idea. Although I sensed the danger, between the time I turned around, raised my arm and said BEGONE, I didn’t see anything beyond the garage door as it was very dark. When the cone of light shot out I still didn’t see anybody, anything or any entity it hit. I am stumped by this as I would have thought I would have seen something. I know something was there as I felt it. I also don’t think I would have had such a profound experience if something wasn’t there. Maybe a quick look like you normally do when you sense something but not a confrontation like this. Personally, I don’t believe in the devil and demons per se. I do believe people will make their own heaven or hell after this life by the choices they make. To me it’s more about positive/negative than good/evil. Since I’m very positive, I’d tend to believe whatever it was that caused this was very negative. I still have a lot more questions than answers about this experience of mine. I am just thankful that I was protected from something I’m sure I don’t want no part of. Whether it was me or someone else protecting me probably doesn’t matter in the bigger scheme of things. Just knowing I was protected is enough. |

(Page 3) Back in the late 80is i was a school kid and my way to school was ap. a 1,5 mile foot march trough and up dense wood along a small and winding gravel road from my parents farm to the bus stop. As the road was a dead end only leading to our home there was not much traffic and those that drove to our farm knew to take the narrow road with it´s corners you could not see what is behind slowly. And i knew that even with the walkman plugged in you could always here the sounds of a car or truck coming up or down the road. So .. one day i was walking back home from the bus stop on the road, listening to my walkman (the iPod of those days) when suddenly a very clear and precise voice told me "Jump right or die" and showed me a picture of me being overrun by a truck. I jumped, turned left and just a half foot away a 4-axle silo truck (that brought feed to my parents farm) blew by at insane speed in a cloud of dust and gravel. The driver has lost brakes just when he turned left into the road and had no choice than to blow trough and hope the road is clear to come to stop in a meadow in front of our farm. I am an atheist but i would not bet on the nonexistence of guardian angels though. Thumbs up if you think it is funny to have to explain the term walkman... |

Quoting: George B So intuition is possibly and ultimately based upon hard data . . . but its collection and inclusion into ones decision algorithm is subliminal and many times inexplicable. Bottom line, I learned to trust my intuition and was rewarded richly for doing so . . . simple coincidence or just probability being my friend ??. . . I tend to think I was collecting information and weighing it without my conscious faculties being aware . . . This reliance upon a subjective feeling seemed to be more prevalent when the complexity of the problem/s being investigated were the most complex or even overwhelming. With an increase in complexity came a greater reliance on subjectivity and lower desire or need for objectivity. Maybe when our conscious cognitive pathways are overwhelmed by too much input and analytical stimulation, one's offline supercomputer kicks in like a backup generator in a power outage . . . efficiently running analysis in background mode and once the computations are complete the answer is supplied . . . but since its existence seems detached from a conscious process we believe it to be subjective and intuitive when it is really objectively based as well . . . My intuition tells me this is right;) Our brains somehow sort through the huge volume of data and make predictions based on likelyhoods and calculations that are too complex for us to visualize in a linear fashion. This need not be certain calculations that determine particular outcomes, but can simply be a weighing of possibilities and likelyhoods. A subconcious risk assessment, if you will. Would seem to be logical and ultimately adaptive. . . . and seem mystical as well. . . However, I still think there are unknown input of information that is not explainable. . . . In fact, intuition could simply be an evolutionarily derived defensive and survival mechanism using offline resources to crunch tons of seemingly irrelevant environmental data points to arrive at conclusions only realized or come forward (as a feeling) when the full complement of conscious senses are fully engaged and preoccupied with survival . . . thus the perception of the conclusion was a feeling, a warning, a hunch . Why? Because the overall analysis was way too complex to bring the entire data set and analysis to consciousness because that would overload the organism ability to cope and render it into a state of confusion and paralysis. Why may this be true . . . Cognitive Load Theory and "Memory, of course, is at least as much a process of filtering as of remembering. " "Another aspect of cognitive load theory involves understanding how many discrete units of information can be retained in short-term memory before information loss occurs. An example of this principle that seems to be commonly cited is the use of 7-digit phone numbers, based on the theory that most people can only retain seven "chunks" of information in their short-term memory." [link to en.m.wikipedia.org] " Look at the facts. We register, through our senses, 13 million bits of information every second. [1] Of those, we are consciously aware of one to three. Virtually every second of our waking life we take in a barrage of manmade information, mostly visual and aural: 34 gigabytes worth, [2] according to recent research at UC San Diego, equivalent to 100,000 words daily, or almost a quarter of Tolstoy's massive War and Peace. Yet our short-term memory can handle no more than (approximately) seven items at a time. Seven out of 100,000, seven out of those 13 million. Memory, of course, is at least as much a process of filtering as of remembering. The trouble is, we are conditioned to want to retain and act on information. When our senses and consciousness are deluged with far more data than we evolved to deal with, we run into trouble." But because we're so dependent on our sense of sight, she says, we're not used to trusting our intuitive vision track. "If you find yourself in a situation that's making you feel nervous, you may have spotted a reason for concern without even knowing it," says Hirsch. "Pay attention to the sensation." But we actually have two vision tracks—one conscious, the other intuitive—and as a result, the eye sees far more than we generally realize. For instance, in a phenomenon known as blindsight, people who have gone blind because of brain damage can still navigate an obstacle course or identify emotion on a person's face, even though they can't consciously see it. Their intuitive vision track is receiving visual stimuli, even though their conscious vision track isn't; they know what's around them—they just don't know how they know. Blindsight proves that our behavior can be guided by sensory information of which we are completely unaware. (Carlson, 2010) It may be thought of as a converse of the form of anosognosia known as Anton–Babinski syndrome, in which there is full cortical blindness along with the confabulation of visual experience.
