comets do not destablize the asteroid belt
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12215789

I'm no expert, so I'll ask you how you know this?

Perhaps a lil ole comet here, and then there, wouldn't affect the belt, but what if there were a swarm of them hitting the belt at once?

At any rate, a celestial body larger than a comet would, although, destablize the belt...(an analogy I used recently) like a cue ball hitting a rack.

Of course, such the celestial body would have to be cold and therefore barely observable or unobservable, otherwise many amatuer and pro astronomers would've seen it coming.

For various "soft" reasons (non-science based) I am of the opinion that this is what happened, that the asteriod belt was disturbed, and that we're seeing the leading edge of the scatter.

I realize that my opinion is argueable, but I'm not into doing that. While I know what I just wrote makes me appear to be a Nibirutard, PXer (whatever is the right name), I'm not right now, nor ever have been.

I'm just sharing an observation. I am not neccessarily of the opinion that such the celetial body will destroy the planet.

 Quoting: cosmicgypsy

Your theory...while plausible...probably does not provide enough energy or inertia to destabilize the belt...

Try this one...many of the bodies circulating in the belt are nothing but ice and dust however many of them, especially the larger ones, are iron ferrite. Iron is a magnetic material yes? What happens if the Interstellar fluff has an opposite electronic charge to this objects? It would seem that Gauss's law for magnetism might come into play...

just sayin'

and these are targeted at the coastlines? BS
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3560831

LOL. Targeting the Coast Lines. LOL

He means that a strike would hit water because 70% of the Earth is water so thats where one would probably hit because of the odds.

So Ya. Coastlines are targets for Tsunami's from an Asteriod hitting the water.

Is it just me or are people really so stupid that when they read shit they just don't seem to read it really or just so stupid they don't understand what they read.

Lots more meteors since the Russian one. even yesterday was a big Boom party on GLP. Booms heard all over.

Today, still many incoming, more than usual.

[link to www.meteorscan.com]

Plus GLP having constant server problems. Doom is certainly about to pick up big time.

You can't believe everything you read on here! most of those boom threads where old bumped up threads!

This please is funny as hell, One guy says "oh my god I heard a boom", and next thing you know everyone's screaming BOOMS ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!
 Quoting: Utu

Idiot. Most of the BOOM threads started the night before. Then carried over into the morning until some moron started to pull up all the past boom threads some from 2 and 3 years ago.

It was an attempted by somebody to mix things up and we all saw it. A thread was put up about it.

So much for your theory Jackass.

The booms were heard accross 6 states mostly around and in The New Madrid Fault Line. They were Tectonic in Nature.

The booms were not Meteors.

He said it's time to bug out if you live within 200 miles of a coast. The earth is going to be a shooting gallery in the coming weeks. He said impacts are coming from meteors and comet have and will destabilize the asteroid belt sending them our way. We will see many more events like the russian one.

He wanted me to let those who would listen to know. He said after the whole Russian debacle they, private and public agencies, began intently viewing the skies and found via space Tracking and Surveillance Systems many meteors heading this way. He said they have a high probability of impacting and the percentages have been increasing weekly.

Sorry for the bad news, I really don't know what I'm going to do? Prepare yourselves.

^^^Yes agree this isn't how it works at all.

Plus it would be good for OP to explain why bug out 200 miles from the coast since asteroids and meteors land unpredictably.
I don't understand much at least I admit it, but not all asteroids originate in the asteroid belt right?
Or, we might just label a new branch of science called "Fanciful Mechanics".

I can't speak on an uncle or cousin but can tell you emphatically that Ratheon does have a major tracking facility facility on the Kwajalin Atoll. I can't disclose how I know this but look it up. They track missile tests, etc they also track objects in space.
