North Korea Forces Await 'Final Strike Order' from Kim Jong-un | |

I think they're smart enough to understand that if that happens, their days in power are numbered. Quoting: hIndsIght2020 It might be alot of posturing, but posturing can always go too far. They may not have anything to lose, and even he must know that you can only posture for so long, and then you have to act if you don't get the response that you hoping. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1094960 They have over 70 submarines and although none can deliver Nukes...the North still has a LARGE arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. Biological and chemical weapons...maybe tens of thousands of tons stockpiled. Hydrogen cyanide, mustard-family, sarin, V-agents, etc. This isn't Iraq, there are actual documented US and South Korean estimates of North Korean Chemical weaponry No large military is to be taken lightly. That said, the only thing the North has going for it is it's size. Their subs are small and medium diesel subs, almost all of 1960s design. Their tanks, there are supposedly 3500, are old. Many are 1950s tech. Their airforce is dominated by Mig 21s, a plane from the Vietnam war. They do have about 3 dozen Mig29s, which are formidable aircraft. Those will be the first thing targeted. Their mechanized forces are antiquated, though large. Simple LAW rockets would easily disable them. Their navy is designed as a coastal defense brown water navy. They have enough missile boats to keep the USN out to sea. There'll be no amphibeous invasion launched on the North. They are little threat to the carrier groups operating at a few hundred miles out. In 1999 a naval skirmish broke out between a dozen ships and boats of the North and South. The South kicked the shit of the DPRK. They'll do well the first few days simply by force of numbers, but every day those numbers will decline as allied forces efficiently destroy targets. One has to wonder how much fuel NK has to work with. It takes a lot of diesel to employ 7000 armored vehicles. One has to wonder how much fuel NK will have after the first couple of waves of US missile and airstrikes. It is standing US policy that any use of chemical/biological weapons will be answered with nuclear attack. A dozen low yield tactical nukes would do North Korea in without a big radiation risk for the neighborhood. North Korea has as much fuel as China allows them to have. Exactly whats to stop china just re-arming and re-fueling them from their northern border with china. To fight a huge proxy war against the West. |

All we will see is north korea get beat they may put up a good fight but thier will only be one winner and that is the united states personally i would love china to help to north korea to make it a more even fight but thier is no way china is going to risk everything they have worked for over the years hell even sometimes i think it could be in chinas intrest to invade north korea themselves and declare north korea as a part of china the us couldnt really do anything |

We have thousands of troops stationed in S. Korea. If this guy decides to really use a nuke as he has threatened, the game changes dramatically (obviously). We can't just nuke the bastard back. It doesn't work that way. This is a big deal folks. sabre rattling is one thing, but if this idiot really does do something, it could be the catalyst for WW III. |

If the West placed an embargo on Chinese goods it would ruin their economy, while at the same time boosting western economies when they began producing their own goods again. It would be a strategic blunder that I doubt China would fall into. However, China may secretly support the North just long enough to accomplish some of it's own goals. I could see China taking the islands in Japan and then drawing a hard line against the North. China would promise to make NK end their war if the West accepts their rightful ownership of the islands. |

Because they don't bow down to their knees to American domination and rule like the South does? The South is American's little bitch, and as an American I will tell you that this is all being orchestrated by the west for western interests and I hope the North stays strong and eliminates any type of plot to overthrow their countries sovereignty, and one day joins back with the South and becomes one again. You poor fool. NK's people are Kimmy's little bitches. If they don't do what he says the get killed or throw into labor camps. Nice propaganda, where did you hear that on a FOX news special? Did you not see the people who were crying and morning the death of Kim Jong il? Oh wait let me guess, they forced them to do that otherwise death, labor camps yada yada The reason you only saw them when he died is because everyone who refused to mourn or have grievances against their country (like you do obviously) they were thrown into forced labor camps or mass graves. Take your liberal dribble someone else. |

That is why we are in the Middle East. If you control the world's fuel, you control the world. There is some oil for China, mainly from Russia and Iran, but we will go to war with Iran, and will eventually sign Russia over to NATO. It is a big chess board, and I think that China is getting backed into a corner, and they may be behind all of this. |

In a large scale conventional conflict NK has no chance. Like the posters says NK would have short term gains but once SK and US air power comes into play its effectively over for NK. As long as china stays out of a conflict, which I would think they would do due to the fact they will be the world super power in 5-10 years there's no point in getting bogged down in a large scale war over a nut job dictator. The only real threat he has is his nukes so he's trying to force the world to drop the sanctions by threating it. |
