North Korea Forces Await 'Final Strike Order' from Kim Jong-un

No large military is to be taken lightly. That said, the only thing the North has going for it is it's size. Their subs are small and medium diesel subs, almost all of 1960s design. Their tanks, there are supposedly 3500, are old. Many are 1950s tech. Their airforce is dominated by Mig 21s, a plane from the Vietnam war. They do have about 3 dozen Mig29s, which are formidable aircraft. Those will be the first thing targeted.

Their mechanized forces are antiquated, though large. Simple LAW rockets would easily disable them. Their navy is designed as a coastal defense brown water navy. They have enough missile boats to keep the USN out to sea. There'll be no amphibeous invasion launched on the North. They are little threat to the carrier groups operating at a few hundred miles out. In 1999 a naval skirmish broke out between a dozen ships and boats of the North and South. The South kicked the shit of the DPRK.

They'll do well the first few days simply by force of numbers, but every day those numbers will decline as allied forces efficiently destroy targets. One has to wonder how much fuel NK has to work with. It takes a lot of diesel to employ 7000 armored vehicles. One has to wonder how much fuel NK will have after the first couple of waves of US missile and airstrikes.

It is standing US policy that any use of chemical/biological weapons will be answered with nuclear attack. A dozen low yield tactical nukes would do North Korea in without a big radiation risk for the neighborhood.

North Korea is not to be taken lightly.

They have over 70 submarines and although none can deliver Nukes...the North still has a LARGE arsenal of weapons of mass destruction.

Biological and chemical weapons...maybe tens of thousands of tons stockpiled.

Hydrogen cyanide, mustard-family, sarin, V-agents, etc.

This isn't Iraq, there are actual documented US and South Korean estimates of North Korean Chemical weaponry
