It must be that their educational system is bad too. I watched a video clip some time ago about a school where 80% (I think) of the students were found to be analphabets. It was some news channel which interviewed a school principal and he had no explanation. He look very ill at ease.

They create work environments that teachers absolutely want no part of. So basically these schools filled up with untermenschen are taught either by teachers who are only putting in the time required to get the loan forgiveness benefits from the government, or teachers who could not get jobs in better schools.

It is very real. I live in Ga. lived in some of the areas talked about, and have friends and Family living in some as well.
Sandy Springs started this several years ago. They fought a long hard battle and only one after a few years of trying, however, when they finally DID win, it opened up the door for some others.
All the areas talked about as having 'opted out" are well maintained and relatively safe. The school systems are advanced and the Parents engaged. The depression/collapse has not hit these folks yet.

I lived in North Fulton and paid Fulton county taxes which were outrageous. Ended up selling and moving to another county where my property taxes were cut in half.

The issue is your tax dollars go to support south Atlanta and your not getting much return on your money in your area. We even paid a special
$300+ Grady hospital tax, which is in down town Atlanta, a hospital I would never use.
