North Korea has officially ended the armistice agreement that ended the korean war North Korea had previously threatened to formally scrap the Armistice several times before but they haven't totally nullified it as they have today. As of right now, there is no safeguard whatsoever to prevent war on the Korean peninsula. It's June 1950 and the go-order is about to be given for a second time. Exactly. As far as I'm aware the last time they threatened to scrap the armistice agreement they just simply said that they felt they weren't bound by it. Now they have officially withdrawn from the agreement after sixty years which brings them from a state of inactive war with ceasefire to an inactive war without ceasefire. This could very well mean nothing and then the military drills finish and everyone is quiet until the next nuke test or something. I think most people are shocked because 'legally' there is no official ceasefire and we don't know how this will impact the chances of war. |

North Korea has officially ended the armistice agreement that ended the korean war So, isn't that a declaration of war? A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything. Friedrich Nietzsche if I did not feel so sad as I look at them. Sad because they do not know the truth and I do know it. Oh, how hard it is to be the only one who knows the truth! But they won't understand that. No, they won't understand it." --from The Dream of a Ridiculous Man (1877) |

They have NEVER actually stated the armistice is null and void. They may have threatened it, but never actually gone through with it. Now they have. |

North Korea has officially ended the armistice agreement that ended the korean war Things not gone this bad ... Though had SKY NEWS on all morning and not a mention..Whats Dave's thinking on the matter , if it goes tits up , will the UK tag along ? Or is the special relationship not that special anymore... ?? Fuck America, I think we should stop supporting their phoney wars when they can't can't even support us over the Falkland Islanders' right to self-determination. Korea wouldn't be phoney and would be very very serious, but I'm with you, Fuck Obama and his administration after his stance on the Falklands. We should protect our own first. Another Korean war with Chinese or Russian support of NK again is WW3 by proxy. Sending British troops to Korea in that situation would be fucking retarded if Russia could be a serious threat in europe. If it does kick off in Korea though, i think Russia wont get involved, China may supply arms to NK, but i doubt it. It looks like if there were war, it would probably be mostly Japan, SK and USA against NK. I think they will most likely request some kind of assistance, it just depends how willing their allies are. Russia will stay out of it and would probably prefer war because they will be the power who can boast about not being involved in such a major war and will be able to grow their economy faster than US, China and Japan. China has said that their "long friendship" will not guarantee protection in the event of war. All China is worried about is the millions of refugees they would have to support during the war. Then when the North loses, it's land 'should' be given to the South Korean Government and then you have the new Korean government, former South Korea, along the border of China. Which they probably don't want, however China has so much to lose if they get involved in such a war on either side. I doubt China will get involved and I'm almost certain they won't if North Korea began the war carelessly. |

North Korea has officially ended the armistice agreement that ended the korean war How would you know that? It doesn't say that in the comments or in the description. And oh, look at this, it was filmed on a fucking cruise ship: [link to www.youtube.com] Now where was this cruse ship? Well judging by the ladies walking around with bare arms, it sure doesn't look like Canada. Oh, but we can KNOW where that cruise ship was headed because this video was uploaded the same day: [link to www.youtube.com] Cozumel. So they were somewhere in the Caribbean. Now judging by the many uploads that day, chances are they uploaded them after getting home from their cruise, not the same day they filmed them. Therefore we have to go based on the phase of the moon and the month it was uploaded to find the date it was filmed. I would eyeball that to be about 40% illuminated, though because it's so bright it's hard to say which features are illuminated and therefore whether it's waxing or waning. So let's find more detailed info on where and when this cruise occurred, shall we? [link to www.youtube.com] " Stephanie MacDonald 3 years ago It was the Norwegian Jewel. Charter Cruise by Sixthman. Ships and Dip V (Barenaked Ladies)" Much better. A quick search for that turns up this: [link to boards.cruisecritic.com] "The Norwegian Jewel will host Barenaked Ladies annual Ships and Dip cruise February 1-6, 2009." There we go! According to my spreadsheet, the moon was 40% full at 1:20 UT on February 2nd, 2009 which would be at 8:20 at night on February 1st by Florida time. From this video we can see they departed from Miami on February 1st: [link to www.youtube.com] We can see that February 2nd was a "day at sea" between Miami and Cozumel: [link to www.suebeedesigns.com] Makes perfect sense; days spent at sea typically involve parties on the deck at night, and it was their first night out at sea on February 1st. They probably weren't too far from Miami at that point, I'm going to guess somewhere near the Keys, 24.5N 81W. According to my spreadsheet ( Thread: Calculating the Position and Orientation of the Moon ) the moon was highly tilted from those coordinates all night, reaching 90 degrees tilt exactly at 11:03pm eastern time. Even as early as 9pm it was 82 degrees tilted from vertical, by 10pm it was nearly 86 degrees tilted, and again at 11:03 it peaked at 90 degrees tilt. So yes, this video is confirmed by calculations showing where the moon SHOULD be and how tilted it SHOULD look relative to the horizon. Damn I'm good. i have to agree. You are very Good |

I think most people are shocked because 'legally' there is no official ceasefire and we don't know how this will impact the chances of war. We (most Americans) know the US will start the next war by immediately invading NK airspace. The US has a "stop us if you can" policy. It is completely lawless and bound by no treaties whatever. The US has an imperial President and an irrelevant congress. The Generals will decide the issue. |

Still, considering lil chubby Kim isn't getting his basketball games in and probably not enjoying them on TV as much as he had in Europe .. and considering the new guy in S. Korea.. things can still get pretty ugly. |

Now the son is, and the son is, I'm guessing, even more irrational and brainwashed than the father. I've highlighted the only part that is a known fact. The point is: Stop looking the son as an extension of the father. While to some degree he can be, he is not his father and he does not think like his father. Do you think exactly like your father? Or do you have views that differ his? Your father may love baseball, and you don't. He may be religious and abhor physical violence, you may not. Kim's father may enjoy the political posturing, and empty threats, the son may not. He probably was raised watching his father make these moves and felt it was a dishonor to the nation, and might want to change the norm. I'm saying he is not the same as his father so stop treating him like that. We are dealing with a whole new personality, and considering his age, and level of maturity, yes these recent aggressive moves are cause for concern. Welcome to the 5th world. |
