When you see the Master vampire in the jail cell for the first time, and also vampires rising from morgue tables and scratching at windows. Fuck me, that was some scary shit, right there. They don't make vampires like they used to - now they're eloquent wine sipping pussys with immaculate white fangs. John Carpenter's Vampire's could have been a classic, except the vampires weren't scary in any way, shape or form. |

Stanley Kubrick's The Shining with Jack Nicholson. Ridley Scott's Alien with Sigourney Weaver. Adrian Lyne's Jacob's Ladder is a classic and inspired the Silent Hill series (especially 3). The Exorcist (the director's cut, but the theatrical is still excellent) - another classic. Anonymous Coward User ID: 31625978 Panama 03/11/2013 02:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's tough, but here are my choices. Quoting: Polynomial As everyone has recommended, John Carpenter's The Thing with Kurt Russell. I thought the movie "The Shining" was a bad joke, because I read the book before seeing it. The book was truly terrifying. My mom read the book first and ended up with an abscessed tooth, because it scared her so much she kept clenching her teeth while she read it. I read the book next and couldn't go into the bathroom at night for years without being afraid. I saw the movie, expecting it to be really scary and thought it was laughable. As much as I love Jack Nicholson, he should not have been cast in the lead role. The way he hammed it up was ridiculous. He and Kubrick (whom I also usually love) turned what should have been a masterpiece of terror into an over-the-top joke. With the exception of "The Shining" I agree with all your other choices. |

Quoting: TheSmokeingGun Horror movies are a favorite here at the Tesla household. A few of our favorites are: Phantasm Night of the living dead. Day of the dead. Return of the living dead. (good for a few laughs). Leprechaun. (All of them are great however, we prefer Leprechaun in the hood). The thing from another world. (This one is a classic since you can see James Arness of Gunsmoke fame as the thing) There are so many great ones however, we prefer the Zombie variety. Anonymous Coward User ID: 18850150 United States 03/11/2013 02:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | . I've seen many horror movies... most of them are dumb and predictable, so I generally know what to expect. The most frightening movie I ever experienced was Alien. But that was in the theater. Maybe it was the big screen or special audio or something more sinister... but I thought I would have a heart attack... I wanted to leave but could not move my body... so I closed my eyes and missed most of the movie. Later I saw it on television... but it was not the same - not near as scary.. The most interesting psychological horror movie with an unusual surprise ending [don't do a search on line it will spoil the ending/movie] is Frailty. The ending of that movie was so unexpected it made me wonder if life imitates art... or vice versa... again... don't read about the movie before you see it... it will spoil the whole effect. . |

I didn't realize there was more than one with the same name. I get to see a pre showing because a buddy of mine worked on it. Its horrible, i will definitely not be watching it again. I normally am not phased by scary movies but literally every 5 minutes i was on the verge of pissing myself haha |
