New Delhi: Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Monday accepted that Ram Singh’s death under mysterious circumstances was a major security lapse. He added that, as per preliminary findings, the gang-rape accused had committed suicide.
Clearly, there seems to be more than what meets the eye in the mysterious death of Ram Singh, prime accused in the Delhi gang-rape case, who allegedly committed suicide in Delhi’s high-security Tihar Jail early on Monday. While initial reports had claimed that Ram Singh, 35, had committed suicide in ward no 5 of Jail No.3, jail authorities have not yet confirmed that he had took his own life.
Ram Singh’s family and the defence lawyer claim that there was no reason whatsoever for him to commit suicide. They claimed that Singh was murdered and demanded a CBI probe.
