Hell ya there are a lot of tunnels in PA! It's something like the 3rd producer/deposit holding of the world's coal supply.
Still active mining in various places.
An oddity is Centralia, PA. Back in the 60s, local govn't was getting rid of trash at the dump so they burned it. BUT it caught the old coal mine's residue on fire!
