my father has died from sclc last year. while he was on treatment i spoke with several doctors and one told me something very illustrative about chemo: imagine your body is a room and the cancer are ants on a corner. chemo is killing the ants with a flame-thrower. you burn up all the room and in the end you might even not kill all the ants because they protected themselves in some hole.

It's probably not so easy. It seems that in certain case, chemo can indeed cure people (my grandmother has been cured only with chemo), but in other cases, it made the cancer worst.
