I agree there are many benefits of stem cell research.

With the new tech of non fetal stem cells ..why not, it may be playing God , But to save lives it may be worth it..

Only adult cells work.. and abortion clinics supply the fetal cells....

So no I don't support because it has NEVER WORKED!

Yes, Id rather see some federal funds go into this research as apposed to wastefull spending.

Good point, but remember anytime a bureaucracy is created, there is waste.

The new science is VERY limited so fetal cells are always gone back to for baselines.

well hb, let me ask if you know of anything that the government has invented besides debt and laws? I am sure there has to be something but I honestly dont know what it/they are.

And let me add that i live near NIH and have a kid who is a paraplegic.

I assume that any scientist worth their salt will not work for the government but will solicit their ideas to a company who would offer much more money.

That is my general thinking on the subject as well. I do support the research, but, the feds never contribute to anything worth while. Like you said only debt and laws.

Which Federal agency are you referring to specifically? I have a problem with DOD funding.

I work in a large medical center, I am surrounded by very smart scientists, doctors, students, and support staff. I am not in the medical field. I just have a media support role. Here is what I have learned. NIH money is harder to get and grants are easier to get from the Dept of Defense instead.

I think it is deliberately done so the DOD can use the research and take it into black-budget programs to weaponize biotechnology.

If they (researchers) are harming people and/or property rights are being violated then no, it's wrong.

However, if no one is being harmed and property rights aren't being violated then yes, go for it.
