Military sending abnormally high amount of EAMs all day

I take it it's all encoded so there is no idea what they are saying?

You got it. Numbers and letters read phonetically. People have been trying for decades to decode them.

There are exercises occurring near NK with the US and SK at this time.

According to the MT website you referenced:

"According to the instruction above an EAM may pertain to "a real emergency, a scheduled exercise, or a special test." So one of the important things that monitors need to keep in mind is that not "all" EAMs involve critical real world events."

I'm guessing it's related to the exercises.

Thank you for the bump. I wish I was able to decode them. If anyone has a sideband capable shortwave receiver tune to 11175KHz and 8992KHz as it begins to get dark. Mode is USB. I haven't heard one in about 20 minutes now.

It's generally not silent for too long. EAMs aren't their only purpose. You'll also hear aircraft transmissions generally to a ground station.

I read a story a couple days ago that the USA has a lot of subs deployed to the NK area.

This would makes sense with relation to the EAM traffic.
