Why is there steam around Mount Taranaki/Egmont?

Does not seem like clouds?

Is it heating up?

Does anyone who live near Mount Taranaki there know if this normal to see on very sunny day ?!

This volcano is meant to be near "DEAD".

I am originally from Taranaki and lived under the shadow of beautiful Mt Egmont for over 20 years.

At school we were taught that Mt Egmont is a dormant (sleeping) volcano. It has not erupted for over 100 years but I do recall someone mentioning that it may be overdue.

I can remember 2 occasions when light smoke came out of the crater and I think there is a crater lake that sometimes does heat up a bit.

A lot of my family still live in Taranaki so I always hope that the Mountain will stay sleeping. Fingers crossed!

Yes eruption within the next 1-6 months.
When cook strait gets an 8.5 quake this volcano will release pressure.
