The Bible does not teach that the Earth is only six thousand years old. What the Bible does indicate and record is that Adam and Eve were created approximately six thousand years ago. Prior to the creation of Adam and Eve, going back perhaps thousands and millions of years, life existed in previous ages on the Earth. At some point, as indicated by the Bible, this life was destroyed in a great cataclysm, including flooding by water. Genesis 1:2 records that the Creator "moved upon the face of the waters" of this desolated Earth, and then "remade" the Earth and re-created life on the Earth.

This all can be shown from a proper translation of Genesis and other passages in the Bible from the original Hebrew and Greek.

You can date it even further back then that as well. What does Genesis say about the life spans of the modern human back then? How old was Noah when he died? How many family "generations" passed during the era of Genesis, how many "1000 year periods" passed by as men lived to 800 - 900 years old... how long would the average family last with that life span? ...what other verses in the Bible use the term "day" in reference to God instead of in reference to man on Earth? How many more 1000 earth year periods can be added on?

First its mentioned in an obscure verse in the Book of Psalm, then thousands of years later it is repeated with emphasis by the Apostle Peter, just barely 2000 years ago he repeated this. Why would he repeat with emphasis such an obscure reference from Psalms that was written a few thousand years before his own time?

Many theories date it back 35,000 - 50,000 years ago. This supports the theories that the Cain and Able Story is a reference to the extinction of the Neanderthals.

The Bible is badly misunderstood and currently being taught from the perspectives of the modern Homo Sapien; rather then from the perspective of the ancient Cro-Magnon Homo Sapien.

Listen, if you would take the obvious stance that GOD (an omnipresent, omnipotent energy, rule, paradigm, system) exists and you would take the obvious stance that dinosaurs (ages extinct (in form) big, burly beasts) existed then you can only exclude these things by minimizing them through definitions. Who among you doesn't believe in evolution? Who among can fathom the grand schemas of all of existence without being stymied by it's depths?
So, consider this if you would ... GOD as an evolving ( omnipresent, omnipotent energy, rule, paradigm, system) ... yes, a CHILD in essence, yesterday, today and forever. We tend to stamp/define this GOD as a super human and say we are in "his" image. So, consider what we as children do. When we are initially handed clay we muddle about forming globs that defy onlookers definition. As we evolve, we begin to form more consistent shapes (balls, squares, humans, animals, etc) and eventually evolve to forming beautifully ornate and well defined objects, breathing a creative life into artful expression. But, unlike this "GOD" we are only "re-forming" what we ascribe to "him" as having "created". That ascribing is not far fetched, as we do not have that power and we cannot/have yet to fathom the depths of all that is ... so we have "GOD"!
Anyway, why would we not assume GOD (in relation to all we don't know) is a CHILD? Albeit a CHILD that as far as we know was, is, and always (we hope) will be? Out of "his" evolution the universe has experienced ages of evolving and obliterated forms from its "clay".
So, go on trying to "define" GOD away or evolution away .. you will only be refining that little box you live in and eventually blown away by what you "don't" know ... and that is "GOD is that which you ascribe to but will never attain because you are part and parcel of that GOD. You can never supplant nor replace that GOD"! I can only minimally imagine looking upon the "face" of GOD because to do so I beleive I'd be so amazed it would likely shock me to death. I say that having seen only minimally the beauty that exists in this small sector of the "GOD". To see it all ... WOW!!
