hapless moran User ID: 1130234 United States 03/13/2013 07:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's safe to have one, I don't recall any side effects from it,the first time I had one I was a walking pin cushion at the CDC in Atlanta and had many different shots, including something for Cholera. Had a slight fever for a day, but I think it was from the combination. The thing to look out for now in Dengue Fever, for which there is no prophylaxis. The YFV is good for 10 years, and who knows where you might decide to visit in those ten years. If you're planning on visiting parts of the Amazon you'll probably want to get the YFV. If you're just visiting Rio, Sao Paulo, Belo, then you're probably good to go without it. Last Edited by hapless moran on 03/13/2013 08:02 AM free your inner baboon. |

hapless moran User ID: 1130234 United States 03/16/2013 08:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You'll need YFV if you're planning on visiting Bolivia (which I highly recommend). Quoting: hapless moran A guy who does trips said it is compulsory to have it for parts of Peru. Do you have to take the certificate, or just tell them? AFAIK no airlines want to see the cert?! I needed the certificate to get my visa to Bolivia. You may not need a visa. However, if you're visiting the tropical sections of Bolivia I've seen them forcing folks to have a vaccination at road blocks if a certificate can't be presented. God knows how clean the needles were. free your inner baboon. |

I once had a knee specialist tell me that I did not have the ATL in my leg (even tho I would not have been able to bend my leg, or prob walk without it). So... |

Remember, you're no longer in Australia,Bolivian public health is trying to eradicate the spread of Yellow Fever, if you become infected, you become another source of spreading the disease. They would also prefer that you not become dependent on their health system should you become incapacitated by the disease. And of course, petty bureaucrats don't give a tinker's dam about whether you're a citizen or not, they are exercising their power over you. free your inner baboon. |

I lived overseas and passed on the recommended Hep B vaccine and never got it, and if I did, well at least I am immune to it. I had a number of strange but short-lived illnesses. That happens down there. Man up and stop being a sheeple. You will be fine. |

Yeah, you're right, fuck all these vaccinations and meds, I went to West Africa and didn't take any of those anti-malaria meds, nothing happened to me except I came home with a roaring case of falciparum malaria which nearly killed me, but I manned up and survived. free your inner baboon. |

The main need for this cert is on return back in to australia if you are entering from a YF country within 7 days. Best go to the US for a week if possible they dont care. Death from YF less than 30%. Not a death sentance, avoid the vaccine. Happy Travels |
