Re: Pope Francis middle name means Peter
I have to say I was going with the Black Pope as an interpretation of the Black Robes i.e. Jesuits and his being a full blooded Italian, but given all the info, and the lack of a solid Peter connection, I have to say the Malachy prophecy is a fail for me.

I still believe the Pope is the false prophet spoken of in Revelation, due to city of Seven Hills and Rome etc., but the Malachy prophecy just doesn't hold water for me, unless I make a looooong stretch.

and another connection to Peter is St Francis' restoration of the ruined church of San Damiano which was dedicated to St. Peter the Apostle.......
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36014976

What is teh point of going that far? St Francis did fixed a church related to St Peter, Pope Francis is named after St Francis?

You can get there much quicker just by saying that "the RCC believes that Pope Francis is the successor of St Peter", or even "Pope Francis will spend a lot of time hanging around St Peter's Basilica".

Don Francis Borgia was the great-grandson of Pope Alexander VI, and co-founder of the Jesuits. On his mother's side he was descended from King Ferdinand of Aragon.

The Borgias: The Original Crime Family
[link to www.trutv.com]
Of this notorious family, four members in particular are remembered, if only vaguely, as remarkable examples of greed and evil. Two were popes: Calixtus III (Alonso Borgia) and Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia). Another, Cesare Borgia, was, for a time, a cardinal, elevated to that position by his acknowledged father, Alexander VI, and later, after leaving holy orders, a murderous and ruthless duke. The fourth member has become a metaphor for feminine evil: Lucrezia Borgia, sister of Cesare. [...]

[Rodrigo Borgia] named his son Cesare, then only eighteen, a cardinal, along with the younger brother of his current papal mistress [Giulia Farnese] the even younger Alessandro Farnese [who would later become Pope Paul III, the Pope who sanctioned the creation of the Jesuit Order] [...]

Francisco Borgia [great-grandson of Rodrigo Borgia], after producing a number of children, became the principal proponent of the new order of monks, the Jesuits.

Re: Pope Francis middle name means Peter
The jews seem happy about the new pope:

"World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder congratulated Cardinal Jorge María Bergoglio, the archbishop of Buenos Aires, on his election as Pope Francis I on Wednesday.

"Pope Francis I is no stranger to us. In recent years he attended many inter-faith events co-organized by the WJC and our regional affiliate, the Latin American Jewish Congress," he wrote, adding he had met him in Buenos Aires in 2008.

Lauder praised the new pope as "an experienced man, someone who is known for his open-mindedness...a man of dialogue, a man who is able to build bridges with other faiths".

"We look forward to continuing the close relationship that has been fostered between the Catholic Church and the Jews over the past two decades."

After praising the work of Popes John Paul and Benedict for Catholic-Jewish relations, Lauder said:

"We are convinced that new pontiff will continue on this path, that he will speak out against all forms of anti-Semitism both within and without the Catholic Church, that he will take action against clerics who deny or belittle the Holocaust, and that he will strengthen the Vatican's relationship with Israel."

This does not bode well. TPTB will fake the tribulation and rapture.

Obama's visit to Jerusalem next week will be crucial. If he proclaims "world peace" between the three religions and the jews are allowed to build their third temple, then we know what's coming.

I will start with this:
(Just peak at the first part; the cardinals...)

Basically, I don't know how OP came about it; but a guy was on the radio tonight; who doesn't believe in the prophecies but writes about them. He mentioned exactly what this guy said.

His birth name "Middle" Was Peter. It was changed. And his Father was an Italian immigrant to Argentina...

The only part missing now is "Rome" (His father was not born in Rome so thats out...) Im sure it will become evident soon.
(The was some more having to do with Old France or something but I missed it.)

Also keep in mind either way whether you chose to believe the Evil pope or the good version. The best outcome is him being good and leading everyone through the worst of the times; BUT STILL followed by the end of the Church.

My only personal interest is, Is it all real; or more likely are they just going by the playbook.

BTW...

Why has no one since his name was finally chosen; especially since he is a first in so many other ways; not just the name.

The prophetic phrases of St. Malachy describe the Pontificate of each Pope, not his name...

"St. Malachy used epigrammatic verse which is basically a witty and like maxim. A good example would be from “Dances with Wolves” where the Indians named the adopted white lady in the tribe. She eventually stood up for herself after a long period of abuse. She knocked down the aggressor with her fist (in the air) and from then on, she was known as “Stands with Fist.”

"This type of naming convention makes sense because St. Malachy experienced visions and named what he witnessed. So what does this mean for “Peter the Roman?”

Re: Pope Francis middle name means Peter
Years ago, some French experts have concluded that the prophecies of St Malachy were in fact from NOSTRADAMUS! It explains many things you are talking about. He used the St Malachy name to avoid the wrath of the Church.

In addition, PETRUS ROMANUS could be just the name of THE PAPACY ITSELF as if it was no more important to personaly describe each pope after Benedict XVI (Gloria Olivae) since a great event related to the END TIMES would change the world beliefs...JUST AFTER B16, such as the coming of someone like the Christ's PARACLET / GREAT MONARCH / KING ARTHUR / CROWNED WHITE HORSEMAN, and THE EXTRATERRESTRIALS.

Thread: Prince William is still in his 30th year. In March 2013 starts his Mission of Christ's PARACLET / KING ARTHUR / GREAT MONARCH

So, the name PETRUS ROMANUS, Peter the Roman refers to Peter the Apostle, the only one, followed by the concept of papacy. So, any pope after B16 would be PETER THE ROMAN since HE MEANS END OF THE WORLD (END TIMES).

And so are the last words of the FIRST SENTENCE of FRANCOIS (Francis) 1st:

FINE DEL MONDO means END OF THE WORLD: "miei fratelli cardinali sono andati a prenderlo quasi alla fine del mondo".

The famous quatrain X-72 of NOSTRADAMUS predicted the coming of FRANCOIS (FRANCIS) 1st:

L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois,
Du ciel viendra un gran Roy effrayeur.
Resusciter le grand Roy d'Angolmois.
Avant apres Mars regner par bon heur.

translated as:

1) "Year 1999 and seven months,
2) From the Heavens will come a great King of terror.
3) The great king of Angolmois will be resuscitated,
4) Before and after March reigns by early hour".

1) 1999 PLUS 7 months = 2000,

2) King of Terror = Death = Tarot card 13 = PLUS 13 YEARS or YEAR 13 (2013),

3) KING OF ANGOLMOIS = French region of ANGOUMOIS from which came FRANCOIS 1st, King of France. SAME NAME FOR THE NEW POPE.

4) MARCH / EARLY HOUR = NEW POPE ELECTED IN MARCH TOO EARLY DUE TOO B16 RESIGNATION.

This is too much of a stretch, OP.

Saint Francis is the namesake. His first name alone was chosen.
As the pope did not select two names, he is only Francis.

Also, Assisi is not Rome.

You're making up too much. It doesn't work.

But the Jesuit thing is a closer match. It is a way of having the euphemism of "black pope" actually apply.

Pietro

Re: Pope Francis middle name means Peter
First of all, the prophecies never actually NAMED the pope. For example, Pope Benedict's coat of arms contained olive branches, and nobody I know had a problem that this was a connection to the prophecy of "Glory of the Olives."

Furthermore, Pope John Paul II was born and buried during a solar eclipse, thus seeming to fulfill the prophecy of "From the labour of the sun." Interesting note: the final "proof" or evidence of his fitting the prophecy did not occur until AFTER he was dead. In other words, only in retrospect after his papacy did the fulfillment seem to be solidified.

So Pope Francis was named after Francis di Assisi di Pietro di Bernardone. Additionally his dad, Mauro Gambetti, is from Italy (Roman) and was an immigrant to Argentina.

So there IS a possible link and again, a more obvious link may surface as his papacy advances in time. Also, I do not think that an overt sign such as him taking the actual name of "Pope Peter" would be consistent with the supposed fulfillments of the previous popes. The previous prophecies merely described the next pope in an ambiguous way and this is not any different now.

But there is one thing I DO know for sure. Regardless of the validity or non-validity of any extra-Binlical sources, we are OBVIOUSLY close to the soon return of our Savior. The BIBLICAL and may I add infallible signs are all around us. Israel is a powder keg and is the center of the world's attention. Be encouraged my brothers and sisters. We are going home SOON!

Exactly^^. Something else I found interesting is how the media are calling him the first latin american pope, when in actuality, he's Italian! He lived in Argentina because his parents were Italian immigrants. So he is still "Peter-the Roman"!
