What confuses me though is how supposedly all the OTHER churches came from the Catholic Church at a later date.

[ link to orthodoxwiki.org] The Roman Catholic Church split off from the Orthodox Church in 1054, when the RCC wanted everybody to accept the changes they made, but the Orthodox refused. This was called the "Great Schism" or the "East-West Schism". The Orthodox Church still exists, and still does the same things the same way as they have done from the founding of the church.
