Benjamin Netanyahu was poised on Thursday to unveil a new Israeli government that will include right-wingers strategically installed in key positions to further expand Jewish settlements.


After 40 days of exhaustive negotiations that concluded around midnight on Wednesday, Noga Katz, a spokeswoman for the Israeli prime minister’s right-wing Likud party, said: “There is a government”.
Nearly two months after an election that left him weakened, and just ahead of a visit by US president Barack Obama, Mr Netanyahu will unveil a coalition that will see his Likud Beiteinu bloc join forces with the Centrist Yesh Atid party, led by Yair Lapid, the far-right pro-settler Jewish Home, led by Naftali Bennett, and the Hatnua party, led by the dovish ex-foreign minister, Tzipi Livni.
