Well considering it won't hit until tomorrow evening I would hope its good. A flare has nothing to do with the size of the plasma ejected in a CME.The flare is photonic light, the CME which arrives days later has particle mass. A C flare can give you just as much particle density as an X. This also had a filament release so it is one to watch, thats heavy nucleii density. Since we're in the middle of a smaller CME right now what we have to watch for is the tail of the magnetosphere as it rebounds from our existing energy storm. I'm not worried about this but we do have a very weak magnetic signature so we just watch and wait!
Quoting: shadasonic The flare has already hit us... [ link to www.spaceweather.com] Quoting: Saddletramp Flares do nothing to satellites unless its close to large X status on up to cosmic. Flares hit within 8 seconds since they are light traveling at lights speed. The CME is what to watch for. The predicted arrival time is for late tomorrow night into sunday morning Quoting: shadasonic Our atmosphere is indeed weak for a Solar Max...we need a few of these small to medium CME's to puff it up and expand it out...
