With those trying to generate fear over these types of events, semantics are important, since they often rely on a general lack of understanding in their readers. Poor definitions help turn a lack of understanding into fear.

For Sun-noobs: CMEs are not judged by the size of the solar flare that produced it! Most of the time M-class flares and filament eruptions can produce CMEs far bigger than X-class flares!! Look at the Enlil CME simulation, it looks pretty big!

While this is true, the flare strength give us a rough idea (though that is thrown off by long duration moderate flares) there is no other way to measure a CME until it arrives. Enlil is just a rough guess based on observation of the eruption.

Of course there is data to indicate the strength of an incoming CME, and what Enlil/ISWA base their predictions on

So, what is the measured strength of this CME?

Cactus measures velocity and angle, as you can see on the site's key. Velocity is very important to the potential impact on earth and helps determine the impact simulations.

So not just the shot in the dark you claim.

You'll have to do some research on your own. I've given quite a few sites in the past 2 days that should at least get you off to good start. Your attitude sucks however, and you obviously know it all already, ergo, your ignorance will prevail.

However I will not allow disinfo be presented by you or anyone else as fact for those who really would like to know.

It's simply amazing to me that some people can't enjoy the wonders of the sun unless they are fried by it ......

Any quakes? I mean, aside from the 3s, 4s and 5s that happen *every*day, CME or not.

NOAA Predicted:
Initial Speeds Predicted over 925km/s starting at 8pm UTC

NOAA's Prediction was too high:
Actual Measured Speeds got to the high 700km/s. The CME arrived 8 hrs late.
I say NOAA's Speed Prediction was over 150km/s too high

NOAA's predicted plasma density of 25 was also too high.

So yesterday's extreme "red alert" warnings based on NOAA's predictions were too high.

Note the jump to Kp6 this morning. Imagine if NOAA's predictions were good? Imagine if their predictions were low and we got hit with 1000km/s?! Keep up the good work everyone and Thank You! Data below.
