I stopped all my medications..whoa I'm awake
Spent the last 3 weeks tapering off all the drugs my doctor put me on. The first week was seriously hell. Then bam! I feel alive suddenly, I barely remember the last few years. It was as if I was in a dream. I was numb, I'm a bit more emotional now, but wow..life..it's worth a few tears of joy and even sadness feels..good. Sadness, pain, life..it's all there for a reason, feeling is good.

very good. you may want to consider getting a juicer and try juice fasting. start slow with skipping a meal then try a whole day etc.

also meditation is healthy too.

Re: I stopped all my medications..whoa I'm awake
Hydrocodone, amitriptyline, promethazine, metoprolol, sumatriptan, Zofran and occasionally morphine and ativan. All prescribed by a family doc and one neurologist. I've had two surgeries in a year and I've seen two specialists and not one doctor told me what I can do to make my life healthier. My family doctor, saw him once a month and he didn't even remember what I came in for. I thought I needed them to feel normal. Between anxiety, heart rhythm problems, pain, and side effects from the other drugs.. I was a mess.

I forgot how to be anything other than a drugged up person, and that was fine when I was really in pain. Yet, here I was months after surgery and I was scared to stop the medicines. At first I went through horrible withdrawals and my whole body felt heavy and I couldn't hardly get out of bed. I was nonfunctional. So I tapered off the pain medicine slowly and as I got off of those I was able to stop the nausea medicines. When I realized I was less anxious about things without all the pain I stopped the anti-depressant/anxiety meds. When the stress factor calmed down I stopped the migraine medicines. No headaches, no major anxiety, no pain, and no more crazy rapid heart.

The only drawback...I CAN'T SLEEP! (that beats 12 hour sleeping and still being tired though)

I recently made a major life change, and I told myself this has gotta be different. My life can't revolve around sitting at home being sad about life. IT'S LIFE!!! It's pretty freaking awesome that I have it.

I should probably mention that I'm slightly agoraphobic, so leaving the house has been difficult for me, and I actually got a Gym membership. Now, whether I'll grow some balls and use it is a different story.

I have been on and off pain meds for a while. I have been off of them completely for about a year and a half now (after my most recent surgery)...and its amazing the moments of clarity I felt like I started to have once I was off all of them. I was on some heavy stuff and some additional meds to counterbalance the side effects of the ones they gave me for pain...none of it was fun at all, so I can really relate to how you feel.

It is so awesome you are taking matters into your own hands, make sure to listen to your body, drink lots of water, and possibly add in more fruits and veggies as your body will for sure be detoxing some of these out of it for a while :) especially the liver! One easy thing to do is start adding lemon or pH drops to your water to help bring the body to a more alkaline state :) it really seemed to help me!
