Aha, that is definitely what was apparently meant by those screwed up TLE's. That does produce an "asteroid" that gets close to earth. At its closest, 15,000 km from earth's center, or a little less than 9000 km from the surface. Still a miss and a fail, but a much closer miss. The date and time of the miss would be 9.755 days prior to the epoch of the elements, in other words, it would have already hit us yesterday if it were going to hit lol.

The second set can't be parsed, the epoch is too fucked up to the point of nonsensical. I wouldn't call it interesting, just that now I see what the hoaxer was trying to do. At least they tried to do something other than spit out random numbers into a TLE template (though the use of the TLE format to begin with demonstrates they don't know what they're doing), but they still failed to produce elements consistent with an earth impact, let alone an earth impact later this month. A much more elaborate hoax than usual then, eh? Interesting. Again, I wouldn't call it "elaborate." Not quite brain dead, but close. Elaborate would be a whole different ballgame. I can think of a couple ways to do an elaborate hoax of this nature, but I've never seen it done. Let's just say it's a good thing I use my "powers" for good, not evil.
