What we know about the asteroid
DA2013CL2
It's a Trojan asteroid that's been pulled off Jupiter's orbit and has low albedo "D". It's not very visible. It was discovered in the first half of February "C", and is the 61st asteroid discovered in that two week period "L2"
It's about 300 meters across, 1/2 mile according to Raymond's 1st post, and is part of a large body of similar objects that are coming in..
It's not alone.
It's coming in from the direction of Pisces, 60° away from Jupiter in Taurus, right now. And is predicted to splash down on March 25th, early in the afternoon, in the Atlantic Ocean at about the level of Mexico.
If this does happen, then all Atlantic coastlines will potentially be affected and there could be knock-on effects in earthquakes and, specifically, in Cumbre Vieja (Old peak) on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands.
We don't know other effects, just now..
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2373127 How many nuclear plants along those coastlines ?
