Lots of other popes in the Malachy prophecy were known by their deeds and demeanor while pontiff rather than nicknames. Francis I may still yet earn the title "Rock of Rome" during the coming tribulations.

Re: Petrus Romanus means "Rock of Rome" not "Peter the Roman"
Petrus(Peter) means small rock. Petra means large rock or boulder and refers to Jesus. Jesus is the rock. Not Peter. The congregation or assembly is built upon Jesus. Not Peter. There was never meant to be a Pope.

111 Gloria Olivae..............Benedict XVI
Without number -In psecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit.- (Here there is a dot)...Francesco (not first). He is the first Jesuit Pope ever and Jesuits were one of the most persecuted Catholic religious order last centuries since its foundation.

Of course, Jesuits helped many people in those countries where Catholic Church was persecuted or banned extremely.

After -In psecutione extrema S.R.E. sedebit.- (without specific number) comes the next paragraph, PETRUS ROMANUS (Tarcisio PIETRO Bertone was born in ROMANO, Italy) who fits the description exactly without vague connections.

Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in multis tribulationibus: quibus transactis civitas septicollis diruetur, et Iudex tremendus iudicabit populum suum. Finis....

Bertone betrayed Scola

OF COURSE, it would have been impossible that Bergoglio became Francis without the support of Bertone (he is still the Secretariat of State) because according to Italian reports Bergoglio won the Conclave with almost 90 votes.

I dont know if Bertone (78 years old) would be the next pope but (before, during and after the Conclave) his influence in the city of seven hills is greater than Francis even.

Francis does not belong to the Roman Curia and he does not know how it works.
BERgoglio NO!!
BERtone YES!!

What do you think?

He just took the ring with the first pope Peter on it. It was the most plain ring. It is silver whereas all the others were gold.

i.e. Peter the Roman, Peter was also called a Rock by the catholic church

Re: Petrus Romanus means "Rock of Rome" not "Peter the Roman"
peter was chosen by Jesus to be the first pope...the cornerstone... the pillar
The Jesuits would also be the pillar and rock for the Catholic church- being called Gods Marines..like soldiers of the gospel because they went anywhere and everywhere to do gods works

Jesuits are known as the black popes..their leader wears the black robe instead of the red or purple
