Does anyone really believe all this Mars stuff after the gooble-d-gook we all swallowed for so long over the "supposed" moon landings, which produced the world's most expensive movie?

considering mars' nearly non-existent atmosphere, would the sky really look so earth-sky-like?

I still don't understand how "white balancing" a Mars photo would turn a Martian reddish tan sky to a beautiful BLUE like our sky on Earth.

A great cataclysm hit martian society millions of years ago. There was at some point a full scale Solar system wide civilization. I believe the "Nemesis star/Tyche" scenario is responsible for extinctions throughout our solar system, colliding with the OORTshield, sending debris shooting into planets/moons. I think our planet was made into the final petri dish of all the planets. Mars was annihilated and the only real remnant of that stellar people is Phobos, and possibly earths moon.

Ok, wild theory i know, and I'm lacking citations, but.. It jives well with alot i've read.

Closer to the truth than you think... People seem to forget this is the end of a life cycle and yes once life existed on Mars as other planets... This is not the case any longer... The Hopi Indians have made it clear they originated from the caves of Mars... Saved by their great white brother and sister... Taken from Mars and brought to this earth to live in the light... I think you're reaching on this one. Doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary to me. Especially given the distance and angle. Angles and shadows often have a way of creating hard lines that can be perceived as something it really isn't. Plus, the picture is blurry (as they always are) and this can be deceiving as well. There's always stuff like this in nature. Objects that resemble familiar objects or shapes to us and we perceive them as something they are not. The brain wants to do this at all times. I bet if you were standing right next to it you would suddenly find yourself laughing at how wrong you really were and how it is rather ordinary. There's flat lines all over that photo. You just happened to key into the closest thing in your vision.

Sorry, but this is not an unidentified object. Just a rock with some sheer angles, which is pretty damn common.

How curious that as he is showing us this little flat area, to the left, further back, we can clearly see a what looks to have possibly been a large building, with that 'road' behind it.

THAT image is much more enticing.

Technically everything with lower pressure than Earth is called a vacuum.
A vacuum cleaner produces a low vacuum.
Mars's atmosphere is a medium vacuum.

You just use a bigger parachute.
The parachute only reduced a tiny part of the total velocity.
Most was lost by aerobraking, then parachutes, then the retrorockets, and then the rover's suspension system.
