Drone Caught On Tape Over Austin | |
loudtreez User ID: 2528393 United States 03/16/2013 12:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's my question...since I own the airspace over my land up to flight path level (25,000 ft), wouldn't I have the right to shoot that drone down if I had not been given a warrant signed by a judge?!?!? Quoting: Saddletramp You actually own a lot more than that.. You own your lot of land, all the way up to the stratosphere. But the FAA owns permit to fly through anyone's airspace. Just like if you own water front property.. the beach is yours but anyone can walk on it.. So basically they could fly this right into your backyard legally. Scary shit! thanks for reply No prob. I know all this from getting my realtors license. loudtreez |

Has it occurred that the battery does not last long? Or it is a damn camra on a rc helicopter? Just had one in the paper in michigan... cop shot dead barracaded gunman so they sent this in to make sure it was safe. My friend has a chopper like it minus the camera... Not nothing I'm gonna go ape shitt crazy about. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 33851121 United States 03/16/2013 01:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lol...this thread is a major fail. The drone in Austin is made by a company in Austin that has used it in filming events such as F1 race events at the new track down there. I believe they want to start/continue selling them to the public and since South by Southwest is going on I'm sure they found a perfect marketing opportunity. Likewise, the one on Valencia is due to the fact that a company works with many drone manufacturers in that area and tests them there as well. I know, I'm in Valencia for this reason right now. |

Quoting: YEss Has it occurred that the battery does not last long? technically they could use some plutonium 238 and a thermocouple and power a drone for decades. they could also use some classified patents... rhombus will set you free... — some try to tell me thoughts they cannot defend. just what you want to be, you will be in the end! — if you can't face the truth it's probably raping you from behind. |

On a slightly more serious note, hopefully Republicans get enough courage to StandwithRand. Either that or the general public use this oppurtunity to vote them out and get some true Conservatives in there with a damn backbone. Unfortunately, I don't see either happening. The sheep are too afraid to stray from their predetermined paths. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23794435 United States 03/16/2013 02:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder who that drone belonged to. Everyone is assuming it's a government drone but it could have been some electrical engineering students' PHD project or a hobbyist's toy or whatever, some private owner and they were screwing around with it. I've never seen one of them hovery urban drones before but it doesn't look like what I would imagine the government has. Looked like it had rubber bands on it or something. Quoting: KonspiracyKitty Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that we haven't gotten to the point where we have government surveillance drones hovering twenty feet above the sidewalks snapping photos, recording video of people and recording audio of their conversations. I realize they probably do all these things sometimes, but if it's gotten to the point where they're that in-your-face about it, it really shows how arrogant they've become and how secure they are in their power. But yeah, if more of those show up, no matter who they belong to, it's only a matter of time before someone shoots one down. Maybe not in Austin as the populace would be euphoric at the sight of one of their savior's drones, but elsewhere in United States, people will react differently. this is possible and i have thought this too before posting it, its just how recently they have been talking about drones over us and being more bold.. then i found this.. Who knows really :P .. You decide what it is Drones are available to the general public: [link to www.khou.com] |

They were taking surveillance videos and pictures of people in the streets for their databases, probably feeding their face recognition software of whom to shoot from the skies in the near future. This shit is not Science Fiction anymore. We all know that. It should be clear that these drones, and the people who develop and control them, are your enemy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 36234522 Germany 03/16/2013 03:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's nothing to fear with an unarmed drone. All they can see is the top of your head. How many people do you see when flying on a jetliner? The farther away they are, the less they can see. It's all about fear. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28215031 That's like saying all you on the ground can ever see of a flying bird is its belly and feet. A drone doesn't need to be directly over your head to see you. It can already see you from an angle, and then the rest is simply about zooming in on you. |

If they ever start paying attention, you can bet the s**** is about to htf!!! Quoting: justanothergranny You do know the patriot act, rammed in by the republicans, is responsible for this right? Why make this a "hey liberals like drones" thing out of it? Makes you look dim. |
