Well... Yes and No... I live here in Australia but have lived overseas for half my life. I think you are judging Australians as a whole, by those who contribute to GLP. Australians in my opinion have strong views about everything. They are kind of black and white kinds of thinkers. Not many allow for shades of grey.. They love their footy, love their mates, and will give of themselves in every way when called on. If you ask an Australian for a helping hand he will give you one hundred and ten percent. That's what I love about my nationality. If you are a mate you are a mate for life.
On the other hand - yes the accent is a bit strong for those not accustomed to it. But the women have soft voices not pitched at that hard high level of American females. I find American females have harsh voices.
I do like Americans for their generosity - intellectualism and great research into medicines and other problems we have in society. Australia too is doing fantastic research - MANY MEDICAL BREAKTHROUGHS AND OTHER FANTASTIC INVENTIONS.
Don't judge us all by what you read on GLP...
You really would have to live in this country to understand our basic nature.
One thing I would like to bring up tho. even though this is becoming an essay! We do have a very humane medicare program.
There would be no way someone terminally ill would have to sell their home to pay for medical help....
