my sweet kitty has some sort of eye infection and I can't afford to take it to the vet.

I dose my kitties all the time with colloidal silver. I put it in their eyes, too. Totally harmless, doesn't matter the dose or ppm. I have avoided probably thousands of dollars in vet bills over the years. It works when they get a cold, too. In fact that is what caused me to really believe in colloidal silver, because it works so well on my kitties, and they can't fake it.
