I've bought and used 4 tubes of Terramycin already, I have 2 left before I have to buy more. I don't want him to suffer, I didn't buy him with the intent to not care for him. He was a stray, skin and bones and covered with flea sores, weak and rather disgusting but I cleaned him up and buy him food and gave him antibiotics till I ran out and I've spent idk how much on other eye drops and ointment. Je was eating the trash and too weak to get away when I found him. He has invaded my budget and I'm doing what I can. I'm very upset about it! I don't even have healthcare insurance and I'm going to have to use a credit card to take him to the vet if this doesn't work and it sounds stupid..... using a card to take care of a stray cat but he's so sweet and good. And I'm a female and I have a soft spot for a helpless little fella.

Do you have any oil (like vegetable oil)? If so, one potato makes about a bag of potato chips. Best if you can slice it super thin with a mandolin type device, but otherwise you can use a sharp knife.

What about some other pantry items like sugar, baking soda, salt, and flour? If so, you can make brownies, cake, and cookies (to some degree, the oil versus butter has some limits).

Some other ideas.... omelettes, baked potatoes.

A few ingredients can go a long way, just look on the positive side.

One summer I had nothing and nobody. I got by on 1/2 a package of Raman noodles a day. And then, id go walk around the blistering humid heat of the Midwest (United States) for 4-6 hours a day to look for a job. I actually lost a ton of weight though.

I'm sorry your food is down to just potato and eggs but these happen to be two of my favorite foods so here's a few ideas on meals.

When I had no food in the house, I invited everyone I knew over for a pot luck and had lots of food to enjoy along with good company. Having everyone over for pot luck was act of desperation that turned out really well.

When you do get some money rice a ramen are staples for the poor. I grow leeks and green onions on the window seal. Just buy one or two leeks and some green onions (cut the tops leaving 1 inch) and put in some water. These propagate fast and can be transplanted into some soil in a jar and left in the sun. You'll have leeks and green onion tops forever.

Potatoes are good fried, boiled or baked.

Boiled are good when cold with a little salt and pepper. We sometimes do this with small potatoes and keep for snacks.

Slice potato into thin strips and fry up (with onions when you have them) - add to scrambled eggs (sprinkle with a little cheese when you have it) - salt and pepper

Boil one potato along with two eggs. When cooled off chop up mix together with a little mayo, salt and pepper (pickle relish, onion when you have it) and you have potato salad.

Boil 6 eggs and keep on hand for snacks. Eggs are great food because they help stop the feeling of hunger. A boiled egg for breakfast or before going to bed works great. For variety eggs taste good dipped in soy sauce or ketchup - or a combination of the two.

Boil 2 or 3 eggs to make egg salad. (eggs, mayo, pickle relish and a little mustard if you have it (get a few onions to keep on hand next payday), salt and pepper. Egg salad is a favorite here as we have lots of chickens, hence lots of eggs.

We generally have spinach quiche once a week. (12 eggs - beaten, 1pkg frozen chopped spinach, 2 cups shredded cheese, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper put into preheated over at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes) This last several days and can be eaten at any mealtime.

Next "essentials" grocery list:

pickle relish
mayo
salt/pepper
soy sauce
ketchup
ramen (we add a raw egg to this along with green onions)
green onions
potatoes
eggs
coffee and/or tea
cocoa (gets rid of the depression)
shredded cheese
cayenne pepper also goes good on scrambled eggs or eggs over easy
frozen spinach
onions

I have to say that I have been shocked at the lack of compassion for the OP. Even if someone thinks he isn't sincere, we still don't know and should never be guilty of making him feel worse about his situation. After all, these are hard times for many people. Thanks to the collaboration of the government and Wall Street, many people are in bankruptcy and/or foreclosure.

When I lived in Florida, I was laid off twice after 9/11/2001 and had to go on unemployment two different times because everyone was having an incredibly difficult time finding work. I finally found a job at Dillard's working in Cosmetics. (No, it wasn't my line of work, but I needed a job).

We NEVER, EVER know someone's true situation. Just look at the folks who had their retirement money in Enron, with many losing their entire retirement income. I've read about many senior citizens losing their retirement during this last Wall Street fiasco, and they are currently working as Walmart greeters. They expected to retire comfortably and now now they are almost broke.

Everyone says that America is the land of opportunity and that you can do ANYTHING you want. Well, life DOES NOT always work out that way. Remember, while we are trying to work and save and have a life, there are corporations and manufacturers who hire and fire at will. They will close companies and mishandle funds and put people's lives at risk financially. They will send jobs overseas. Let us not forget DETROIT......

Today, a person may have a job and tomorrow they may be UNEMPLOYED. It's the same way with owning a business. What may sell today may NOT sell tomorrow. Life is uncertain; therefore, just because someone is sitting in a hotel room eating hard-boiled eggs, that does NOT mean that they are a lazy, incompetent, uneducated whiner. In the past, I've met waiters in nice restaurants with a Masters degree....and they were waiting tables because they couldn't find work in their field.

So, can we call be a little more sympathetic to someone's situation? OP, I'll be praying for your situation.

i basically survive on eggs and potatoes i swear! well like i only eat 2 times a day at most but 24 eggs?!! ur good even with four eggs you'll live.

I usually live on 6 eggs a day, or so, because of serious food allergies. The good news is that you can lose weight eating eggs.
