Its not a gun my friend, and the CME does the damage not the flare,both of these are about as direct as you can get.

It doesn't hit until tonight ,its not a kill shot, and any event that piggy backs another is the concern.

Small to moderate FLARES my dear. One very large cme and another of moderate size coming in back to back. This is turning out to be a very interesting event. I've seen monster CMEs from small C flares or filament eruptions with no flare at all. You need to learn what dense particle nucleii is. I'm not saying this is going to do any damage, but it has the possibility

I would much rather be aware of the potential effects then in the dark like most. No Doom for me, just enlightenment. What they don't tell you is the scariest part.

an M-class flare is not "a very large flare " it is NOT capable of delivering a "kill shot" ... never has been - never will be --- what you don't get is that we witnessed and X40 in 2002 and it didn't even disrupt our cell phone service .... are you listening? it came at us from the same direction as the Carrington event - and NO ONE EVEN KNEW WHAT HAPPENED - the solar winds were 900+ and it got here in hours - but even a flare that large HAD NO EFFECT on our daily lives. GET OVER IT - the sun was created to sustain life on Earth - Doom will not come from the sun, unless we allow those psychopaths in charge of HAARP to punch more holes in the magenetosphere.

these b and c class flares don't have enough power to do anything that we can even detect on Earth ... and trying to MAKE them seem important or anything other than NORMAL - low activity is FEAR MONGERING - nothing else - and no one who has any degree of knowledge about Solar Activity is fooled by your ignorance

we had Sumatra, we had Katrina, we had windstorms of unimaginable force "come down to the deck" as per RV'ers projections, we had dozens of volcanic eruptions going off, we had massive lightening storms, we had huge numbers of 4-5-6-7-7.5 EQ's going off in the same month, we had record breaking 100 -500-1000 year storms going off, we HAVE huge planetary wide changes going on on ALL planets in our system,


just because it hasn't killed you.............yet............ it HAS killed hundreds of thousands of others and put millions more in misery.

does not mean there has not been an effect. the effects are STILL working their way out in our planet hence the increasing numbers of sinkholes, and all the warnings of major plate breakups in the Pacific.


don't kid yourself. it started almost two decades ago and it is still happening. and it appears that this year we are getting a repeat of what happened WHEN we were getting all those X CLASS flares going off.

We were getting alot of X flares last max, many of those didn't have an accompanying CME. It takes one hell of a photonic light show to incur damage, such as jet particles or a GRB(gamma ray burst)

Do you know what a flare is? Its photonic light, you don't need a flare of any decent size to produce a large CME. Like I said before you can have massive filament eruptions without having any sunspots involved. The filament release that coincided with the M1 flare had a combined plasmatic effect. I'm not saying its going to be bad, but it is going to hit a very weakened magnetic field and it is going be be dense in structure. You need to learn the difference between photonic energy and particle mass. You keep spouting off about flares, when thats not at all what we're following.Flares are charted to the degree of light given off, not the particle energy released if a CME is associated with it. It seems the only one afraid is you or you wouldn't fight this with such limited knowledge.

What gets me is that in every instance, posters post conflicting information. This thread is a prime example. no matter the size of the eruption and whether or not it is a m1 or x2 etc.. it is about the total size, speed and overall density of the incoming CME. This should be of minor concern, should produce some nice aura's. However because of the volume and speed, there is a small possibility damage could occur.

This scale shows da, angular degree width is 342, anything over 270 is a type 4 halo, anything over 300 is quite large.
The mxv is 1136 km/s, which is very fast, anything over 800 is one to watch. Thats about all I can do for you. REMEMBER I'm not saying doom, just one to keep your eyes on. If we had any substantial storming of late we would know thw strength of our magnetic field, but we really have no idea how its going to handle this. The sunspots have been primarily dormant for 9 months.
