Re: The bible is full of shit! (New Testament Contradiction Edition)
I know I shouldn't do this ...

40) Was it lawful for the Jews to put Christ to death? "The Jews answered him, we have a law, and by our law he ought to die." John 19:7 "The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death." John 18:31
 Quoting: OP

John 19:7 The Jewish law spoken of here called for capital punishment for anyone blaspheming God, which is what Jesus was accused of by the Jewish PTB.

John 18:31 Roman law, not Jewish law, forbid occupied people (the Jews in this case) from executing anyone. Only the Romans could do that... and in this case they did.
 Quoting: Life and Love

Reasonable, I like you. Good answer. 39 to go.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33398445

Let me use my newly found good favor in your eyes to offer this:

Your (OPs) original thesis was that a page of apparent contradictions was sufficient to invalidate 1,000 pages of Holy Scripture.

By using the same logic, finding two problems with your list of 41 contradictions should also invalidate the the remainder of the others.

This leaves us with two choices:

(1) a page of contradictions doesn't invalidate 1,000 pages of scripture. If this is true, there's not need for me to continue with the other 39.

(2) The two problems in the list of 41 does invalidate the rest of this list. If this is true, there's nothing left to continue with.

Which one do you prefer?

The bible is not perfect, because it was written by humans who are not perfect. This does not disprove the existence and divinity of Jesus Christ, nor does it disallow or negate the superior intellect and wisdom contained in His teachings. You clearly have an agenda, in that you read the bible with the INTENT to find errors in it, not to gain spiritual enlightenment or divine inspiration from God.

The real question to ask yourself is why are you so determined to tear down, mock, or humiliate Christianity? Your thread says more about your personal ax to grind than it says about the bible. The many good things that Christianity has and continues to produce (missions, donations, orphanages, community soup kitchens, etc.) are proof enough of the beautiful message that was given by Jesus Christ, one that is embodied by those who give of themselves to help their fellow human beings. Perhaps it would benefit you to take your cue from them, rather than attempt to discredit what they believe in.
 Quoting: Rising Son

First logical statement of the discussion. The rest is an attack & proclaiming the fruits of your religion, that is nice but it does not contribute to the reasoning behind the errors.

So you admit it is not perfect? Why does it claim infallibility then?

The Authority of Scripture

The Bible proclaims its own authority
Scripture is inspired by God
(II Timothy 3:14-17)
Belief in Scripture is necessary and commanded
(I Corinthians 14:36-38, John 5:46-47, I John 4:1-6)
God has promised to preserve His word for His people in all generations
(Matthew 5:17-18, John 10:35, Isaiah 59:21)
The New Testament writers all referred to the Old Testament as authoritative
The New Testament claims the same authority for itself as the Old Testament
(2 Peter 3:14-16)

This makes the word of God flawed. You admit this? How do you know for certain there are not other errors then?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33398445
Inspired by God, does not mean written by God, unless you think they mean the same thing?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35368779

This is still an admission of it being error riddled. Why did God allow this?

Whats with god creating man and then woman and then a few lines of word later he created them again????

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

God is not some character that sits on the clouds allowing and disallowing things.

You have a child's understanding of God.

With God comes absolute free will for all.

The Bible is in the hands of Free-Will man.

Nevertheless, it has been handled very delicately and has been nurtured to carry sacred truths, esoteric truths and allegories in the manner of what is needed to reach spirits, not necessarily minds (since so few have them) and what would appear to be error or contradiction to the simple people of the world is there for a reason and it is speaking to a different audience.

Think of it like this: If you are confused, you are meant to be because The Bible itself is shutting you out...you're coming at it all wrong.

That is why I don't feel the need to spell it all out for you and answer to your demands. If you're not getting the Bible, you need to try again later with another approach or new attitude.

#3 Lepers

Apparent doublets. Sometimes scholars see similarities in two passages and assume that they refer to the same event. Blomberg says an example is the anointing of Jesus in the house of Simon the Pharisee (Luke 7:36-50) and in the house of Simon the Leper (Mark 14:3-9 // Matt. 26:6-13). As one can see from the references, the first episode occurs early in Jesus’ ministry, while the other occurs toward the end. If they are the same event, then this creates discrepancies. However, there are enough verbal dissimilarities in the passages that we should not hastily conclude that they refer to the same incident. Plus, Simon was the commonest name in Israel from 330 BC to 200 AD (Bauckham, p. 85). Jesus had two disciples with this name and a brother (so called). Thus, separating the two scenes resolves the discrepancies. Each apparent doublet needs to be taken case by case.

Well, I for one found nothing but "blind adherence to an illogical dogma" in your original post. A little historical research goes a long way, and you've got a long way to go.

You make absolutely no sense child. You offer no defense of the 'Infallible' word of God when I point out the blatant fallibility.

What historical research do you suggest I do to understand why the bible (Which is supposed to be written under direct guidance from God) is full of errors?

Please enlighten me..

You are confusing infallibility with authority. The errors you cited were insignificant at best, and considering the sheer number of times the bible has been converted and translated from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English, along with the disagreement about what should go into it, it is understandable that there would be some errors made. You are negating the entire book based on a technicality which is provincial, and your agenda is the only deceptive thing at work here.

Truth needs no validation because it is self-evident and undeniable. Therefore, anything that requires validation to be realized or justified as truth must contain at least some degree of falsehood.

2) Is Paul lying? In Acts 20:35 Paul told people "to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Since Jesus never made such a biblical statement, isn’t Paul guilty of deception?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33398445

Only if Jesus Christ didn't in fact state those words, which then nobody today has how to prove or disprove.

The gospels don't contain all the life of Jesus Christ, only the selected moments that were recorded. So we can't look for those words in the gospels and say Jesus Christ didn't ever say this or that because those words aren't there (unless there's really a contradiction), because there are many things Jesus Christ did that weren't recorded:

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

4: IN Lukes account (Luke 7:1-5), others came to Jesus on his behalf, but Matthew does not mention them. The accounts are not contradictory; Matthew, as is often the case, simply abbreviates the story. He actually reports what the centurion said through his messengers, based on the idea that what a person does through an agent is what the person himself does.

#4 Centurion

A more careful exegesis of the two accounts reveals that each has a rather different purpose in presenting the story.[5] Matthew lays the emphasis heavily on the faith of the centurion, and the significance of such faith in a Gentile. Luke, while also stressing the man's faith, is more interested in his character, particularly his humility, than in his nationality. Here is a more promising explanation of the discrepancy about the friends. To Luke their presence is important in emphasising the centurion's humility and diffidence; to Matthew they are irrelevant, even, by their being Jewish, diverting attention from the main point of the story, the response of the Gentile to Jesus. So Matthew has done what he often does elsewhere (as mentioned above): he has left out a detail irrelevant to his purpose, in order to concentrate on what was for him the main point of the story. This is no ground for accusing Matthew of falsification or error in suggesting that the two met face to face; his omission of the means of the centurion's approach to Jesus is a valid literary device to highlight the message of the incident as he sees it (on the principle, common in biblical and contemporary literature, that a messenger or servant represents the one who sent him to the point of virtual identity).

Re: The bible is full of shit! (New Testament Contradiction Edition)
Is this guy for real? He claims to be Jesus nut but has done nothing but attack people this entire thread.

Just like Jesus would do, huh?

Find where I claimed to be a "Jesus Nut"

Straw man tactics

I have no obligation to spare the feelings of anyone who has not accepted Christ.

Found this post on another thread:

Who are my family if not by brethren in Jesus Christ?

Talk to them once, if they persist, leave them be.

Do not mix with them, lest your children follow other gods.

YOu can go and on. There is a very well detailed behaviour manual to christians, none of wich involve judging.

Judgement belongs to God.

What christians do and are instructed to do is always be bold and tell the truth.

The truth is the truth and if it hurt other people's feelings its irrelevant.

One levite impaled a woman crying for one of the unbelievers who had died to sin and God was well pleased. That was before Jesus Christ saved people from the death penalty.

The law is the law. God doesnt change.

there is no political correctness or ethics.

One follow Jesus morals and should not go around whoring after other god's costumes and behaviours.

Jesus came to give an offer, people take it or not. There is no negotiation. Its not expected of christians to comply in any way, shape or form with those who are wrong in God's view.

Its not expected of christians of the Latter Days to even preach the gospel anymore. Its to stand still, and let know that God is there.

Like the ortodox Jews, real christians keep to themselves. If they ever talk about their beliefs, they are not ordered to insist.

Quickening belongs to God. The moment a christian shares a word of Jesus, he planted a seed, the rest he lives to God.

Its irrelevant if others feel discriminated or "judged".

God is the Lord of discrimination. Christians just follow God/Jesus. Any human ideology that states the opposite of God is deception.

Christians dont mix with anti-christians. God will judge. But Christians know the truth, the light and the way through Jesus Christ teachings and anything or anyone does not match that, a specific set of reactive behaviour is ordered by the christian doctrine within the bible.

The effects expected must follow. Whether people like it or not, or feel bad, or discriminated or whatever, go complain with the God.

Re: The bible is full of shit! (New Testament Contradiction Edition)
12: John denies being the Christ, Elijah, or the Prophet. Elijah, who never died was expected to return in the end times to restore all things. Though the Baptist resembled Elijah in his rugged lifestyle he denied that he himself was Elijah (though Jesus, understanding more about this than John, saw John as fulfilling the prophecy about Elijah. The coming of the Prophet was predicted by Moses in Deut.

Re: The bible is full of shit! (New Testament Contradiction Edition)
I can answer every one of these so called contradictions, but that would take me more time than I have for myself today. Therefore, I will debunk the first claim of a Biblical contridiction and after that, I hope you understand that your lack of knowledge is exposing you for what you are, ignorant.

If the bible is the infallible word of 'God' & God is perfect, then why are there so many mistakes in it? Is this an admission that God is not perfect?

Here's a compilation of New Testament contradictions:

Gospel Contradictions:

1) How many generations were there between Abraham to David?
Matthew 1:17 lists fourteen generations. Matthew 1:2 lists thirteen generations.

Response:

The first series of genealogies is different from the two that follow it in that this series includes the start of the whole collection of names. There are fourteen names listed in this portion including Abraham’s. Since Abraham was the first of the names listed and is obviously not listed in a previous list such as David is in Matthew 1:6 and Jechoniah in Matthew 1:11-12, his is to be considered a genealogy in and of itself, making the total number in the bloodline fourteen. Therefore, we see no difficulty in the listed generations between Abraham and David, just a need for an explanation.

Abraham(1) was the father of Isaac(2), and Isaac the father of Jacob(3), and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers(4), and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar(5), and Perez the father of Hezron(6), and Hezron the father of Ram(7), and Ram the father of Amminadab(8), and Amminadab the father of Nahshon(9), and Nahshon the father of Salmon(10), and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab(11), and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth(12), and Obed the father of Jesse(13), and Jesse the father of David the king(14) (Matt. 1:2-6)
