It would appear that Caesar was having quite a problem with Jewish revolts to his Roman empire in the 1st century. He was unable to control them.

My only alteration would be that Caesar (Nero and thence Vespasian) decided to use their favourite Jewish spy and quisling - Saul-Josephus - to craft a Rome friendly version of Judaism. I call this new creed: Judaism for Gentiles, Simple Judaism, or Judaism Lite, and it was this Church of Saul that eventually morphed into Christianity. Thus Christians are following the Church of Saul, Jesus worst enemy, rather than the Churchnof Jesus. Yes, their error is THAT large. .
