Re: Official name of the "mother church" of the Jesuits, located in Rome, Italy: Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Gesu all'Argentina
Because it's near the Torre Argentina - a square named after Strasbourg, whose Latin name is Argentium. It's called that after a 16th c. papal official who came from Strasbourg. It took me tops ten minutes of Internet research to find this out.

and even if it's true, it's STILL too much of a "coincidence" that the FIRST Jesuit Pope in History comes from Argentina

On my phone and unwilling to do your research for you. Google all.Argemtina. You think the Jesuits knew in the 16th c the first Jeduit pope would be Argentina and thus named the church that. Why?

What matters is: the Jesuits of TODAY, wanted that their first Pope was from Argentina, in honour of their "mother church"

This shows how the Jesuits are actually powerful, and control the Catholic Church

no wonder someone posted here on GLP on February 17 that the next Pope would be from Argentina...

Suggestion: Check on your own before looking retarded, asking us.

Argentina is derived from the Latin argentum ("silver").

I don't mean to be a bully, but you're obviously are astounded by this when you likely shouldn't be.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7577251

Hey moron, I'm prefectly aware of the origin of the word "Argentina".

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that the city of Buenos Aires is located in the "Rio de la Plata".

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that "silver" in Latin is "argentum"

But if you didn't notice, the name of the Church doesn't has the word "argentum", but the word "Argentina".

And there is NO REASON to explain why this word is in the name of this church.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 36301878

check note 3 of the wikipedia article you quote from. moron.
