You currently use about 1000 gallons each per month.

When the water plants stop running you can kiss that goodbye.

Las Vegas will be empty. All of the people in areas like that will migrate to where the water is and there will be conflict.

At a minimum you need several liters per day to live. In arid regions up this to gallons per day.

When you have no running water, no significant above grade fresh water source and the water table is deep below grade there will be big problems for most people.

How do the millions of people in apartments drill a well?

How many people who live in cities drill a well?

And those of you who have stored water will run out quickly.

I challenge you to call the water company and ask them to shut off your water.

Try to make due with filtering water.

I am curious to see how you like living like that if you even can.

It rains 9 months out of the year here. I have plenty of barrels that I can hook up to collect rainwater off the roof of the house and outbuildings. There are also several hand pump wells in my neighborhood, and multiple natural water sources (ponds, river)

Life won't be easy, especially the lack of irrigation and having to haul water to the livestock at the end of the long summer, but I will survive.

Imagine having to water a couple of acres by hand in the middle of a drought. Sounds fun doesn't it. And what you can produce will barely feed you and yours. The rest of the nation can pound sand. In fact they can pound sand until they reach the water table.

And one more thing, I bet that precious few people are prepared to store water for those three months without rain. If TSHTF those who are prepared and have stored water will have a hell of a time holding on to it. Even where water is plentiful via rainfall 9 months out of the year..

Just so happens my water popped on a friday night and the water co water $50 bucks just ta turn off their side of the line...LOL..sure im gonna pay them that.

Got my pliers and did it myself,no water all weekend from main so i got my big berkey out and 5 gallon bucket and hit the pond.

I have a 5 gallon berkey(glad i bought it 6 months ago)anyways no problem for me but if i didnt have my berkey i woiuld have just boiled it.

I also placed 5 gallon buckets at the corners of my roof for rain-water catchment for my toilets.

No showers over that weekend,did get the line fixed by monday afternoon,then alls well.

But did have an issue a couple years ago with my copper pipe inside the wall that feeds my shower,no money for repairs at that time so bought a small shower looking garden spicket and put it on my outside hose and showered under my pergola.

The world did not have 7 billion people at that time, fool.

And I can assure you that you could not hang with my lifestyle. YOU are too weak.

Now imagine it never coming back on. Imagine it throught the dry season. Imagine all of your neighbors and the entire region in the same situation.

Yea, nothing will be easy or 100% if infrastructure goes down, most of the time water would be in the back of my mind when being chased by people with guns.

Over the years I bought an AquaRain, 2 element clearance sale for $87, a MSR Mini Works on sale for $60, and a LifeStraw for $22. And I wasn't going to buy another filter. But then I walked into the local backpacking shop and saw a Katadyn Exstream bottle/filter on sale for $20, so I bought it.

The day is coming when, like ammo, every water filter in the country will be bought up. And prices will go through the roof.

Thats when all the MEN in my neighborhood will drill a damn community well.
