Dr. Astro, serious question: Let's suppose some pieces break off from an (hypothetical) asteriod. Would it even be possible that those pieces hit us BEFORE (think Russia meteor) the big stone smashes us to pieces?
For that to happen those pieces needed to pass the asteroid they've crumbled off, right? I mean, that would be like someone throwing an object out of a car window and then that object reaching the car's destination BEFORE the car arrives. That would be quite... weird.
