I have to wonder about those "sensors". I mean there is so much radiation coming to the U.S. from Japan, you would think they would be going off all the time. How would some man with a low level of radiation be more than what is already floating around the air?

Seems totally set up so that people know to subject themselves to random searches in public, I think Bloomberg has these people beat though.

I think you missed my point.

I was only saying that it is true that medical isotopes can and do (more than media reportes) activate detection devices in a plethora of locations.

Now, is this video some sort of promotion for the DHS/TSA... who really knows.

(Side note) The garbge the DHS/TSA feeds the general public about airport radiation safety concerning the scanners is a lie. I ALWAYS, ALWAYS opt for the body pat down.

Even though this sounds a little crazy. It is quite normal for radiation detectors in the airport, subway, train stations that has been installed post 911 to pickup the radiophamaceuticals used in diagnostic exams.

I have been working as a PET Nuclear Technologist for many years. We often hand out cards with the isotope and time of injection/ingestion for DHS or any other enforcement agencies to lower the issues involved with public transportation and radiation safety.

Someone was just doing their job correctly, and the system worked.

So the sensors have been around for over 10 years and this is the first guy to have this test and set off all their bells and whistles?

Or is this the first time they decided to make a big deal about it because they want some positive publicity for the TSA so they can expand to all areas of our lives?

Nothing more than a Chinese opera to create any number of false impressions in the public.
Probably 10 people a day walk by with the same or similar testing and have for years.
There is not enough radiation administered to do this unless the detector is shoved down his pants.

This is a charade

The radiation isn’t the issue here.

I believe the issue what everyone is upset about is the expanding usage of DHS/TSA and the encroachment on our daily lives. More over the loss of freedom in exchange for the illusion of security it provides.

But, your question regarding why I perform my vocation is a good one. Don’t fall into the media controlled trap of all radiation is harmful.

If we didn’t have this technology (PET/ Nuclear Medicine) far more people would needlessly die from a multitude of cancers that could and can be cured.

Fighting the good fight.

A Reporter just happens to be there to record the entire event, no one even looks panicked that a NUCLEAR BOMB is on the Train, they calmly sit there and film it?

Yea keep telling yourself you're fighting the good fight... you say the radiation they use in their scanners is bad but the very same technology used for your scans and INJECTIONS of radiation into the bloodstream is good. If cancer wasn't being created in the first place, there would be no need for your scans. Problem, reaction, solution. They injected me with that shit twice but it won't happen again.

If this guy had just had a nuclear stress test, and the doctor gave him a card stating that, why was he so clueless? I've had them, and right on the card it states that you could set off certain security devices, which is the reason for carrying the card in the first place. He could have just said he'd had a nuclear stress test. Something fishy in this story.
 Quoting: INK3

Because he probably never had that test. He was probably an actor, playing a part to condition the opinion of the public to think the TSA is "good"

to the doubters:

had this been 'real', that man would have been thrown to the ground (despite his cries of 'what are you doing? what did I do wrong?).

Then, he would have been hogtied & possibly tasered, despite his non-aggression....

Then he'd have been carried off the train like a field-dressed deer as the spectators recorded the entire event on their video phones....

Then....TSA would have threatened to confiscate all of the cell phones on the train.... regardless of whether the process was legal or not.....

Then.....you would have had a panel of experts assembled in 2 point 2 seconds on <fill in your fav fake news channel>......

Then....they would have discussed in great detail... why TSA is a valued safety net for the American people....and how greatful we all should feel toward them.

Then.....they would have dug into this man's personal history every single bad thing he had done since age 2.....(including the test he cheated on in the 7th grade)

Then..... the panel would present serious allegations of this man's mental stability. They would have made the same talking points on this man's guilt & past indescretions....all the while acting as prosecutor, judge, & jury.

Then..... the libs would have come out in record time on every public forum on the internet, raising the SAME talking points while simultaneously throwing up an over abundant number of bullshit flags.....

It really comes down to one thing. Risk –vs- benefit

I am not here to sell you the line that radiation is safe… It isn’t. However, when you need medical help that only diagnostic imaging can provide. It’s your choice, and your choice alone to receive the greatest help possible with today’s technology.

However, with that being said. And the knowledge I have regarding this subject. It gives me an educated viewpoint concerning radiation protection.

One of my responsibilities as a health care provider is to keep my patients informed about any issues regarding their diagnosis within my scope of practice. And the topic of radiation safety is something I educate people with on a daily basis.

So if YOU choose not to subject yourself to ionizing radiation, magnetic flux, ultra sonic frequencies. I get it. I really do and support your decision not to.

My you stay healthy.

This happened to me before I know what I do now. When the masses go to a doctor, they trust him to know what's best for them. This is where the problem starts. No matter what it is, if a doctor prescibes something, the general population is going to take it. Not once was I informed of the dangers of these tests or any other of the many "tests" they put me through. It was blind faith that the doctor knew what was best for me. That is how they stay in business. Blind faith. Also, Nuclear Medicine is an oxymoron.
